A very curious hedgehog named John who got her head stuck in an empty paper towel roll, adorably batted around blindly until she figured out that she could escape just by backing up. John had been rescued from living in a shoebox by the really wonderful woman at Camels and Friends, who went out and bought three big cages to put together so that John would have room to move around.
An Midi-Controlled Robotic Orchestra Performs a Circusy Cover of the OMFG Song ‘Hello’
In honor of his 1,000th subscriber, South Korean engineer Flanon Shin programmed his intricate Robot Orchestra to perform a cover of the electronic OMFG song “Hello“. It came out a bit circusy, but sounds really cool.
First of all, I’m sincerely thanks to the 1,000 subscribers and viewers who shown a lot of interest in my previous videos. …In this time, the original music is “Hello” by OMFG. While looking for a source to create a cover video, I heard this song by chance. mAnd I thought it was very unique. So… I decided to making a cover version out of it. It was very hard to revive the inherent feel of the song. In the end, I had to edit MIDI file for my devices. …The sound you hear is pure mechanical & electrical sound(or noise… whatever). of course, All instruments(except for the Tesla coil) are automatically controlled by computer’s MIDI signal.

A Gorgeous Cover of the Prince Song ‘Purple Rain’ Performed by Tom Jones and David Gilmour in 1992
During his 1992 “The Right Time” tour, singer Sir Tom Jones performed an absolutely beautiful version of the iconic Prince song “Purple Rain“. Jones was accompanied by David Gilmour, who played a gorgeously lush guitar solo that remained true to the song, but was distinctly his own.
The iconic song performed by the late, great Prince in 1985.

A Theory That the Back to the Future Trilogy Is an Elaborate Reflective Chiasmus
Netflix shared a theory by film critic Robert Lockard that claims the Back to the Future trilogy is an elaborate reflective chiasmus, meaning elements of the story are first told in order, but in the middle they reverse and repeat in the opposite order. The video includes a few examples, but Lockard created a full list of examples on his site Deja Reviewer.
The trilogy is available to stream on Netflix until October 1, 2016.
Two Swinging T-Rexes Battle It Out in the Death Guild Thunderdome Raptor Fight at Burning Man
As they have done so for very many years, the amazing Death Guild recreated their legendary Thunderdome for Burning Man 2016, during which two bat-wielding T-Rexes blindly battled each other for superiority while attached to bouncy swings. The hilarious event was aptly entitled the “Thunderdome Raptor Fight” and was brilliantly captured by Bill Huey. One of the participants named Hun GTa posted a great up-close photo of the battle.
Single-Piece Mechanisms Created Using an Advanced Metamaterial
A team of researchers at Germany’s Hasso Plattner Institute have created a series of single-piece mechanisms created using an advanced metamaterial. The material can be designed with rigid or flexible cells that control how the material moves when acted on. The team created a door latch, a pair of pliers, a pantograph, and a Jansen walker using the material to demonstrate some of its capabilities.
So far, metamaterials were understood as materials—we want to think of them as machines.

An Absolutely Brilliant Chandelier Made From Sparkling Clean Toilet Bowls
During a public event on Saturday, September 10th, refitting artist Rodney Allen Trice fashioned a brilliant chandelier made from toilet bowls. While this unique piece is the first and largest created at his new studio in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, it will not remain there. Instead, Trice will be donating it to the community-centered Construction Junction for display.
Well it was a truly amazing Saturday at Construction Junction in Pittsburgh. To contribute my ideas and vision and energies in the arena of creative repurposing or applied deconstruction was an honor. here are some off the initial sketches and the build of THE TOILET CHANDELIER. My latest, largest and first piece built in my studios new home base of PITTSBURGH, yinz!!! Very Exciting! Now I am making tweaks and changes to this design. There are still things to work out as it was a race to complete it at this event on Saturday, but the piece will be on permanent display at Construction Junction forevermore once completed! WOO HOO!!

Lotus Dimension, A Tabletop RPG Where Players Must Solve All Conflicts Without Violence
Lotus Dimension is a new tabletop roleplaying game similar to Dungeons & Dragons, but with the key difference being that players must solve all conflicts without the use of violence. Like D&D and other tabletop games, players create characters that use skills, items, and magic that rely on dice rolls to determine the outcome of events.
The game’s nonviolent focus and other elements are inspired by Buddhism and nonviolent historical figures like Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
Creator Scott Wayne Indiana is raising money to produce the game through a Kickstarter campaign where backers can claim the first starter kits for the game and other rewards.
I’ve always admired D&D because it’s rooted in storytelling, magic and adventure, and it requires creativity and collaboration. But I wanted to know: What would a game structured similarly to D&D be like if players had to solve all the challenges the game threw at them using nonviolent means?
