In a post uploaded to photo-sharing site Imgur, an ultrasound photo of a woman's fetus also depicts a shadowy figure on the right. The image was captioned: "A friend's ultrasound. When you see it..." (Can't see what they mean? Check out the next slide.) -
Suggestions include "the devil", a mermaid, a "demon mermaid", and the Hindu elephant god, Ganesha. -
Another scan posted to Imgur shows what appears to be Star Wars' Emperor Palpatine. -
Leanne Sullivan from Liverpool was surprised to see what appeared to be a brontosaurus in the image of her daughter. "I wouldn't say I'm a big dinosaur fan but I did go and watch the new Jurassic Park film the other week after this happened," the 29-year-old said. -

It's called pareidolia - when the brain makes an image or pattern appear where there isn't really one.
But the scientific reason doesn't make these scans any less surprising or amusing!
