OK, so before we even realized it our own wedding caught us off guard. It's coming soon! But now we're starting to get organized. There is also some Slovene bureaucracy to negotiate before we can pin everything down. So the final details of when and where we're getting married will still have to wait a few weeks.

Let us fill you in on what we have figured out! The plans are as follows:

We're getting married on the afternoon of Saturday, July 8th, 2006 in Ljubljana, Slovenia with a reception to follow. We are also planning a couple of other events around the wedding for people to get to know each other. You can read more about that below. We'll also provide some travel recommendations, especially for our guests from elsewhere. That includes both how to best travel to Ljubljana and where we recommend for small trips once you're here.

PLANS: We're very excited to introduce all of our friends to each other and catch up with you ourselves. Our tentative plans so far include the two following events.

1. A party at one of our favorite spots in Ljubljana on Thursday, July 6th. Details soon.
2. We are planning three days of camping in the Soca River valley, in the Northwest of Slovenia from Monday the 10th to Thursday the 13th of July. Everyone is welcome to join us. It's one of the most beautiful alpine river valleys in the world. See below for a picture.

AIRPORTS: The closest airports to fly to are Ljubljana (LJU), Trieste, Italy (TRS--one hour away) or Zagreb, Croatia (ZAG--two hours away) or Klagenfurt, Austria (KLU--one hours away). It is also possible to fly to further away airports as there are sometimes cheaper flights. These include Venice, Viena or Munich. Munich, Germany(MUC--five hours away) often has the cheapest car rentals.

TRAINS: You can reach Ljubljana from any of the above airports or anywhere else in Europe easily by train. We've found that the best website for train information is the German Railways one. If you click on international guests it is all in English.

AMERICAN CELEBRATION:

For our guests from America Slovenia is very far away. So we're organizing a celebration of the wedding in Maine in early October. So anyone who is unable to make it to Ljubljana for July 8 should plan on the alternative celebration.
