Top 10 Pro-Wrestling Terms You Need To Know
What does it mean when someone says "he's buried!" or "that guy's got a lot of heat"? Pro-wrestling has a long list of slang that is unique to the industry, and may confuse many new fans.
In this video, I'll try to explain some of the more commonly used terms, what their origins are, how some have changed (or are just used incorrectly) in the wrestling community these days, and if they're really all that important.

Glossary of professional wrestling terms
Professional wrestling has accrued a considerable nomenclature through its long existence. Much of it stems from the industry's origins in the days of carnivals and circuses, and the slang itself is often referred to as "carny talk." In the past, wrestlers used this lingo in the presence of fans so as not to reveal the worked nature of the business. In recent years, widespread wrestling discussion on the Internet popularized the terms. Many of the terms refer to the financial aspects of pro wrestling in addition to performance-related terms.

Pro Wrestling Slang from Circus, Carnival & Vaudeville
Professional wrestling was once presented in carnival, circus and vaudeville environments, and along the way, absorbed the slang and jargon from each. Many of the terms used in pro wrestling originated inside the big top, or on the stage. Today, let's examine some of these insider terms that were appropriated into pro wrestling lingo by way of the circus, carnival and vaudeville stages.
