Missing woman Iveta Mitchell’s husband faces court on firearm charges

The husband of missing Parmelia woman Iveta Mitchell faced Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday.

Chad Jeffery Mitchell appeared in relation to a string of charges including possession of methylamphetamine, possession of stolen property and possession of weapons.

He has been engaging in a pre-sentence opportunity program in relation to some of the charges, but pleaded guilty on Friday to possession of a controlled weapon.

This charge related to Mitchell being found with an imitation firearm in Mandurah on March 11.

On June 1, Mitchell was alleged to have been in possession of another prohibited weapon in Coodanup, a knife, but he is yet to plead to this charge.

It was not Mitchell's first brush with the law.

Chad Mitchell's wife, Iveta, was reported missing in 2010 and his home was searched following her disappearance, but Mitchell has always maintained he had no involvement in any crime relating to her.

He has previously been fined for possession of stolen property and has faced court on burglary and stealing charges.

On Friday he was remanded to September 23 to allow for further discussion between detectives and prosecutors.
