Fire at house linked to Elijah Doughty manslaughter accused: reports

A suspicious fire on Thursday night destroyed a home reportedly linked to the man charged with the manslaughter of teenager Elijah Doughty. 

Elijah, 14, was hit by a car while riding an allegedly stolen motorcycle that police have linked to the accused. His death sparked a riot as the accused was due to appear in court

Around 100 people gathered in Forrest Chase for a peacful protest for Elijah Doughty.

ABC News is reporting the home was rented by the accused, who remains in custody. 

Police confirmed they were called to a fire at an empty home.

The house and contents, valued around $250,000, were destroyed. 

"The fire is being treated as suspicious and Arson Squad officers will attend the location this morning," a spokeswoman said.

WA Police also posted a warning against public action or speculation on their Facebook page. 

"No arrests have been made at this point and the public are requested not to speculate or draw conclusions on the matter and allow police to conduct the investigation," it said. 

"We remind everyone that comments made on social media that are considered racially motivated or that incite violence are being monitored by police and will be investigated."
