Armstrong announced his retirement after the Tour, which turned out to be temporary
In February, 2012, as a result of his participation in the Operacion Puerto doping scandal, Jan Ullrich had all of his results dating from May, 2005 disqualified. This includes his third place in the 2005 Tour.

It’s 3519km long and the ultimate endurance test in all of pro cycling. Chris Froome, Alberto Contador and Nairo Quintana are the ‘big three’ who are expected to duke it out for the coveted yellow jersey, but there are a number of riders who are capable of breaking onto the podium at the very least.
It’s not just a battle in the mountains of the Pyrenees and Alps, however. There are 9 stages, classified ‘flat’ by the organisers, which offer a chance for sprinters Marcel Kittel, Andre Greipel and Mark Cavendish to go head-to-head once again. All the big names will be there, and we can’t wait for the Grand Depart on July 2nd!

Tour de France
The Tour de France (French pronunciation: [tuʁ də fʁɑ̃s]) is an annual multiple stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally making passes through nearby countries. The race was first organized in 1903 to increase paper sales for the magazine L'Auto; it is currently run by the Amaury Sport Organisation. The race has been held annually since its first edition in 1903 except when it was stopped for the two World Wars. As the Tour gained prominence and popularity the race was lengthened and its reach began to extend around the globe. Participation expanded from a primarily French field, as riders from all over the world began to participate in the race each year. The Tour is a UCI World Tour event, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI WorldTeams, with the exception of the teams that the organizers invite.
The Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España make up cycling's prestigious, three-week-long Grand Tours; the Tour is the oldest and generally considered the most prestigious of the three. Traditionally, the race is held primarily in the month of July. While the route changes each year, the format of the race stays the same with the appearance of time trials, the passage through the mountain chains of the Pyrenees and the Alps, and the finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The modern editions of the Tour de France consist of 21 day-long segments (stages) over a 23-day period and cover around 3,500 kilometres (2,200 mi). The race alternates between clockwise and counterclockwise circuits of France.

France (French: [fʁɑ̃s]), officially the French Republic (French: République française [ʁepyblik fʁɑ̃sɛz]), is a sovereign state comprising territory in western Europe and several overseas regions and territories. The European part of France, called metropolitan France, extends from the Mediterranean Sea to the English Channel and the North Sea, and from the Rhine to the Atlantic Ocean. France spans 643,801 square kilometres (248,573 sq mi) and has a total population of 66.6 million. It is a unitary semi-presidential republic with the capital in Paris, the country's largest city and main cultural and commercial centre. The Constitution of France establishes the state as secular and democratic, with its sovereignty derived from the people.
During the Iron Age, what is now Metropolitan France was inhabited by the Gauls, a Celtic people. The Gauls were conquered in 51 BC by the Roman Empire, which held Gaul until 486. The Gallo-Romans faced raids and migration from the Germanic Franks, who dominated the region for hundreds of years, eventually creating the medieval Kingdom of France. France emerged as a major European power in the Late Middle Ages, with its victory in the Hundred Years' War (1337 to 1453) strengthening French state-building and paving the way for a future centralized absolute monarchy. During the Renaissance, France experienced a vast cultural development and established the beginning of a global colonial empire. The 16th century was dominated by religious civil wars between Catholics and Protestants (Huguenots).

2005 Tour Quick Facts 3607 km raced at an average speed of 41.654 km/hr, a new record speed. 189 starters and 155 classified finishers. Lance Armstrong won his seventh consecutive Tour victory. His team's superiority was demonstarted in its clear stage 6 team time trial win. Despite its $23,000,000 budget, T-Mobile was ineffectual. In the first Alpine stage, T-Mobile could barely put one rider in the top ten. Armstrong announced his retirement after the Tour, which turned out to be temporary In February, 2012, as a result of his participation in the Operacion Puerto doping scandal, Jan Ullrich had all of his results dating from May, 2005 disqualified. This includes his third place in the 2005 Tour.

Fabian Cancellara, Peter Sagan, and Pierre Rolland all have custom painted bikes at the Tour de France this year. Orbea have a mystery bike – we can't get anymore information on that. And, Bianchi have the new Oltre XR4 – their aero model, which now incorporates some of the advances that they include in their lightweight bikes.

It’s 3519km long and the ultimate endurance test in all of pro cycling. Chris Froome, Alberto Contador and Nairo Quintana are the ‘big three’ who are expected to duke it out for the coveted yellow jersey, but there are a number of riders who are capable of breaking onto the podium at the very least.
It’s not just a battle in the mountains of the Pyrenees and Alps, however. There are 9 stages, classified ‘flat’ by the organisers, which offer a chance for sprinters Marcel Kittel, Andre Greipel and Mark Cavendish to go head-to-head once again. All the big names will be there, and we can’t wait for the Grand Depart on July 2nd!
The guys have made their predictions, which may have cursed the favourites already…but who are you expecting to take their chance at the biggest race of the year? COMMENT and let us know.

Un rappeur et un maçon font le tour des ports de France...

Far’Hook est un jeune rappeur de 20 ans. Suite à un règlement de compte, il est obligé de quitter Paris pour quelques temps. Son producteur, Bilal, lui propose alors de prendre sa place et d’accompagner son père Serge faire le tour des ports de France sur les traces du peintre Joseph Vernet.
Malgré le choc des générations et des cultures, une amitié improbable va se nouer entre ce rappeur plein de promesses et ce maçon du Nord de la France au cours d’un périple qui les mènera à Marseille pour un concert final, celui de la réconciliation.

Far’Hook est un jeune rappeur de 20 ans. Suite à un règlement de compte, il est obligé de quitter Paris pour quelques temps. Son producteur, Bilal, lui propose alors de prendre sa place et d’accompagner son père Serge faire le tour des ports de France sur les traces du peintre Joseph Vernet.
Malgré le choc des générations et des cultures, une amitié improbable va se nouer entre ce rappeur plein de promesses et ce maçon du Nord de la France au cours d’un périple qui les mènera à Marseille pour un concert final, celui de la réconciliation.

In response to the start of the Tour de France in Utrecht, EYE has digitized the film Tour de France from 1953. This film was thought to be lost and gives us a unique view of the cycling race from a Dutch perspective. To produce the film ‘Tour de France’ (1953) the film production company Haghe followed the Tour de France for three weeks, with the legendary Dutch participants Wim van Est, Gerrit Voorting, Jan Nolten and Wout Wagtmans. It is considered the first modern sports documentary in Dutch history.

Last month, the commission suggested the announcement would come in mid-September, ahead of the first debate scheduled for Sept. 26 at Hofstra University....
