Sir the Baptist - What We Got (feat. Donald Lawrence & Co.)

Posted by 2 blogs • Download: AmazoniTunes
Growing up on Chicago's South Side with a preacher father and a missionary mother, Sir the Baptist has a lot of church in him. He also has a debut LP on the way, Gospel star Donald Lawrence featuring on his new track, and Jay-Z as a fan.

Ricky Eat Acid - hey

Sam Ray's return to his more ambient/electronic alias is paired with news of an upcoming LP on Terrible Records (the label co-founded by Grizzly Bear's Chris Taylor). Its lead track swells into a "gorgeous grand slam" (The Fader), thanks in part to Owen Pallett's strings.

Weyes Blood - Seven Words

The forthcoming album from Santa Monica's Natalie Mering, her 3rd with Brooklyn label Mexican Summer, recalls the minimalist psych-folk of the West Coast in the 1970s. This sprawling, organ-filled single, says Stereogum, "slowly unfurls like a blooming flower."

Raf Rundell - Right Time

Posted by 2 blogs • Download: AmazoniTunes
In the duo 2 Bears, Raf Rundell and Hot Chip's Joe Goddard create feel-good club tunes. Maintaining that vibe on his new solo project (under the moniker Selfie Boy) Raf also gets funky by adding "a taut bassline and almost Krautrock melody," notes Complex UK.

Snails - Jennifer Jones

Posted by 2 blogs • Download: AmazoniTunes
With a debut 7" in 2012 and a second 7" in 2015, you can write your own punchline about the pace at which this Bristol band works. But Snails' debut LP, a charming collection of Belle & Sebastian-inspired twee/experimental pop out this week, is proving worth the wait.

Still Corners - Horses at Night

Dead Blue, the new LP from UK dream-pop duo Still Corners.
GOOD READ

FACT chats with Matthewdavid, Deadboy and Sam Kidel about the new wave of new age:

"For years a derided mainstay of yoga studios and health stores, new age music has enjoyed a resurgence this decade as producers and crate diggers re-evaluate a maligned genre.... and argue that in age of precarity and political turmoil, these records are far more than wallpaper music for hippies."

Thanks for listening!
