Belonging - Short Film This short film was made by me for an entry into Screen It 2012. Screen It is an Australian wide moving image competition for primary and secondary school students. There are three different categories; Video Game, Animation or Video. The theme for the competition was 'Belonging'. This short film is showing how someone different and odd is finding a hard time fitting in with people or to belong, I went for an abstract concept to make it more interesting and unique. Song: Amy Seeley - Mile Marker Filmed and Edited - By Jesse Filimon I do not own any of the music, no copyright intended only for entertainment purposes.

When you consider that in Columbus nearly 140,000 residents are college students, there is a hope that they are successful in school, graduate and get a job. But taking a multi-dimensional look at that "success" part, Dr. Strayhorns' research reveals a fundamental need of the student. And it isn't tied so much to good grades or money. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are ...

The ego only exists in a state of comparison. It cannot exist without comparison. What happens when we have this sense of identity that exists only because of comparison and so many of the things that we compare ourselves to around us, we see as “not us” or “different to us”? Belonging goes right out the window. And in this case, the ego has nothing to identify with other than not belonging in and of itself. Not belonging becomes part of our identity....

Belonging or being fully human means more than having access. It means having a meaningful voice, and being afforded the opportunity to participate in the design of social and cultural structures. Belonging entails being respected at a basic level that includes the right to both contribute and make demands upon society and political institutions. The incredible journey of making this project is a testament to what can be achieved when ordinary people work together with hands, heart and spirit for the good of all!
https://www.iitutor.com Some people like to put quotes or references from critics or famous thinkers in their essays. This is not really necessary for a belonging essay, and doing it too much can make you look like a try-hard or worse -- someone who doesn't have any ideas of their own. If your teachers approve, however, quote critics with caution in belonging, but really, quoting is more desirable for your Critical or Close study modules. However, while you don't have to QUOTE critics or reviewers, it can be very useful to know what their ideas on your text are. They may give you a fresh way of looking at the text and are very valuable resources. We have waited until Week 5 so hopefully, you now have a bit of familiarity with the basic plot of your belonging text before piling on extra r...
Tara Brach - True Belonging (Part 1A) - 08/07/2013 We all have a longing to belong. When pursued at the egoic level--often through our good-personhood projects--there may be temporary satisfaction but our sense of separation is ultimately reinforced. In contrast, bringing mindfulness and compassion to whatever is arising dissolves the sense of separation and reveals the basic goodness of our own loving presence. *************************************************** Subscribe to Tara's podcast: http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/tara-brach/id265264862?mt=2 Join Tara's email community to receive exclusive updates, events, meditations, and get a free download of Tara’s new 10 min meditation: “Mindful Breathing: Finding Calm and Ease": http://eepurl.com/6YfI Your support will enable us to ...
The full episode of Michael Ignatieff's documentary when he entered Northern Ireland and explored the nature of what it is that the Loyalist Community in Northern Ireland hold dear to their hearts. Just a shame for them that we have a difference of opinion on their culture.
I wanted love so very bad that
I could almost tasted it
And so I gave mine all to you
And hoped you would not wast it
I laid awake the whole night long
And wondered was I wrong
But when you woke and touched my face
I knew that I belonged
Belonging to someone I find is very necessary
The load is lighter on your mind
When someone helps to carry
And even though I'm strong enough
To make it on my own
I would not even care to try
To live my life alone
For if I lived my life alone
With no one to belong to
There'd be no one to pledge my heart
Or sing my song of love to
My melodies would soon dry up
And the words would leave me too
It all would come to pass if I
Could not belong to you
I wanted love so very bad that
I could almost taste it
And when I gave mine all to you
