The Army Wounded Warrior Program (AW2) is the official U.S. Army program that assists and advocates for severely wounded, ill or injured Soldiers, Veterans, and their Families and Caregivers, wherever they are located, regardless of military status. Soldiers who qualify for AW2 are assigned to the program as soon as possible after arriving at the Warrior Transition Unit (WTU). AW2 supports these Soldiers and their Families throughout their recovery and transition, even into Veteran status. Through the local, personalized support of AW2 Advocates, AW2 strives to foster the Soldier's independence. There are more than 20,000 severely wounded, ill and injured Soldiers and Veterans currently enrolled in AW2.
In order to be considered eligible for entry into AW2, Soldiers must suffer from wounds, illnesses, or injuries incurred in the line of duty after September 10, 2001 AND receive or expect to receive at least a 30% rating from the Integrated Disability Evaluation System (IDES) for one of the conditions listed below:

In this heartfelt video, wounded veteran Luke Murphy shares the story of the day he was injured, and how he's thriving today. He offers thanks to the individuals who helped make it possible - the staff members at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC). LRMC in Germany often serves as the first stop for wounded service members before they are transported stateside for more comprehensive medical care. In recognizing this, Wounded Warrior Project developed the Resiliency Program, which re-connects warriors with LRMC and encourages staff at the hospital. Every month Wounded Warrior Project highlights a warrior who received treatment at LRMC and records an interview with their family. The interview provides an opportunity for the warrior to say "thank you" to the staff at LRMC and the sta...

The series continues with Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran and Army Sergeant, Dennis Cabanting. In November 2006, just one month after arriving in the country, Dennis’ transportation unit came under insurgent attack from an improvised explosive device (IED). The shockwaves from the explosion caused a life-altering traumatic brain injury (TBI). With failing health, Dennis was medically discharged and ended up in a veteran’s home. His mother and primary caregiver turned to Wounded Warrior Project for help. Dennis is now enrolled in WWP’s Independence Program and is learning to live life on his own terms. One year after joining the Air Force, Jessica Coulter found herself a victim in a rising tide of military sexual assaults. Fearing retaliation from her commanding officers, Coulter’s attack went unreported for years until post-traumatic stress, depression, and flashbacks crippled her ability to stay in the military and hold a steady job. She turned to Wounded Warrior Project, who helped Coulter navigate Veterans Affairs, supplied her with a female peer mentor to call on when she felt overwhelmed, and offered professional services to get her career on track. It happened in October 2006. Justin Constantine was on combat patrol near Habbaniyah, halfway between Fallujah and Ramadi, Iraq. The sniper's bullet hit him behind his left ear. "The corpsman on patrol saved my life. Without his rescue breathing and emergency tracheotomy, I would have died right there. The lance corporal rushed me through the war zone, risking his own life, to get me to the aid station." Justin was immediately treated at the field hospitals at Al Taqaddum Airbase and Balad Air Base in Iraq. Afterward, he spent four days at Germany's Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and almost five weeks at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. According to Justin, he is about 75 percent recovered and now receives treatment at Johns Hopkins University. But it has never stopped Justin's ...

The eagle born to those who pledged their lives and sacred honor was smiled upon by God and freed from chains and iron collar. He is held aloft on unity and by history revered; for preserving peace through strength his wings now reach across two hundred years. But for each of those and one year more, God has smiled upon The Corps, from the Barbary Coast to the Eastern Sand, by sword, by gun, or by bare hand. So it's been, and shall be weighed: though many are born, few are "made". Faithful Always, they shall remain, dogs to loose when war is waged.
I am a Marine on the beach, I'm a killin' machine, with a need to bleed you when the light goes green, best believe, I'm in a zone to be, from my Yin to my Yang to my Yang Tze. Put a grin on my chin, come to me, 'cuz I'll win, I'm one-of-a-kind and I'll bring death to the place you're about to be: another river of blood runnin' under my feet. Forged in a fire lit long ago, stand next to me, you'll never stand alone. I'm last to leave, but the first to go, Hard Corps is the only way I know. I feed on the fear of the devil inside of the enemy faces in my sights: aim with the hand, shoot with the mind, kill with a heart like arctic ice
I am a Devil-Dog I'm marching on,
I am a warrior and this is my song
I bask in the glow of the rising war, lay waste to the ground of an enemy shore, wade through the blood spilled on the floor, and if another one stands I'll kill some more. Bullet in the breech and a fire in me, like a cigarette thrown to gasoline, if death don't bring you fear then death ain't brought by no Marine. Come to the nightmare, come to me, deep down in the dark where the devil be, in the maw with the jaws and the razor teeth, where the brimstone burns and the angel weeps. Call to the gods if I cross your path and my silhouette hangs like a body bag; hope is a moment now long past, the shadow of death is the one I cast.
I am a Devil-Dog I'm marching on,
I am a warrior and this is my song
Hell has no demon I won't overcome,
I am a warrior and this is my song
Now I live lean and I mean to inflict the grief, and the least of me's still out of your reach. The killing machine's gonna do the deed, until the river runs dry and my last breath leaves. Chin in the air with a head held high, I'll stand in the path of the enemy line. Feel no fear, know my pride: for God and Country I'll end your life.
I am a Devil-Dog, I'm marching on,
I am a warrior and this is my song
Hell has no demon I won't overcome,
I am a warrior and this is my song
I made the devil himself turn and run,
I am a warrior and this is my song
Into the fire I will keep marchin' on,
Oorah, Marine Corps, Get Some...
Good night Chestey wherever you are
