Oakland, CA: Rumi's Caravan: Recitation of World Poetry -- benefiting MECA

For fifteen years Rumi’s Caravan has inspired audiences by weaving together poems by Rumi, Hafez, Machado, Rilke, Yeats, Mary Oliver, Joy Harjo, Naomi Shihab Nye, David Whyte and other poets from cultural and spiritual traditions across the world. The presenters create an improvised poetic conversation with musical accompaniment. Moving through moods of prayer and grief to humor and celebration, the Caravan always highlights the beauty of the spoken word.

2 Palestinians shot in Duheisha, as Israeli commander threatens to 'disable all youth in the camp'

Duheisha has been raided at least three times by Israeli forces between the end of July and mid-August, during which time 18 Palestinian youth between 14 and 27 years old were shot in their legs causing both permanent and temporary disabilities.

Israeli army continue to flout regulations on child detainees

According to evidence collected by Military Court watch (MCW) in 2016, 90 percent of children continue to be restrained upon arrest, generally with plastic hand ties, and 85 percent report being blindfolded. In situations where plastic hand ties are used, many children continue to report experiencing pain. In 67 percent of cases where restraints are used, the military regulations for their use continue to be disregarded.
