On Sunday, November 16, 2014, The Center for Freedom and Justice launched a series of trainings about Protection, Non-violence and Media. The first workshop was about “Protection” and included people from Popular Committees of Twana – south of Hebron hill, Bethlehem, Al-Ma’sara, Aida camp and Beit Ommar. In total, there were 15 participants taking part in the training.

The training was run by an experienced member of the Protection Organization for Human Rights. His experience was very useful and he spent every minute from the workshop giving productive and tangible information. Last weekend was the holiday weekend of Eid for Palestinian families all over the West Bank.  During Eid, it customary for Muslims to visit their relatives to celebrate.  Often families will travel hours to reunite with one another and to share meals. For one Palestinian village, this has been made much harder for almost 10 years.  In 2006, Israel constructed a roadblock at the entrance to the village of Al Jaba’a

Mousa Abu Maria’s family has been the owner of their farmland for over 100 years. Mousa’s father received it from his grandfather and then gave a portion of it to Mousa. Mousa’s plot of land is a 1400 square meter parcel on the far northern border of his hometown, Beit Ommar. It is situated between the city of Beit Ommar and the settlement of Gosh Etzion. This region is an Area C zone, meaning that the Israeli army has complete control.

On 10/3 at around 1:30 PM, 50 people gathered for a demonstration at Wadi Fukin.  This is the 3rd consecutive Friday that the villagers have hosted an action.   The villagers of Wadi Fukin prepared large displays of balloons and were waving Palestinian flags along with their peace signs. Despite the peaceful nature of the groups actions, Israeli soldiers forcibly stopped the demonstrators from marching on their land.  And although the demonstrators were primarily women and children, after 30 minutes they were violently pushed back several times toward the center of the village.
