Brown's clutch catch for naught as Catanzaro misses winning FG (0:43)

The Patriots are always prepared to play regardless of the depth chart. That's a credit to Bill Belichick, the coaching staff and the players. Game planning and practice habits. Building a winning culture doesn't happen by accident.

Mike Reiss ESPN Staff Writer

Jimmy Garoppolo delivered an impressive performance in his first career regular-season start, leading the Patriots to a 23-21 victory that included some clutch throws in the fourth quarter on the drive that put New England ahead. While it took a missed 47-yard field goal by Chandler Catanzaro with less than a minute to play to seal the result, Garoppolo's solid performance was going to be a top storyline regardless. He finished 24 of 33 for 264 yards, with one touchdown and no interceptions.

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Jimmy Garoppolo played solid football tonight. Gets the ball out quick, showed good movement in the pocket and made smart decisions. He can run this system. And produce.

Patriots beat Cardinals 23-21 on Sunday Night Football. The ViewFromVegas is they did it as 9-point underdogs & +330 on the money line as the line steamed from Arizona -6 to -9 today. Chandler Catanzaro missed a potential game-winning field goal for the Cardinals that also would have put the game over the betting total of 44.5.
