Sydney's newest family festival is launching soon - and we can't wait!

Kidtopia Festival presented by Qantas Assure hits Parramatta Park on October 7.  The festival program has just been announced, brimming with workshops and activities to keep hands and minds busy over the three day event.

From bubbling, whizzing and electric science experiments, costume and clothing design, origami and dream catcher creating, cooking, dance and drama classes, there's things to do for children of all ages. Here are our top picks.

1.    Educate and entertain the kids with a range of short masterclasses:

Are you raising the next Cate Blanchett? Book a workshop with NIDA to find out. Crafty kids will have fun making tie-dyed shirts and dreamcatchers in The Workshop and little foodies won't want to miss the Mission Kids in the Kitchen cooking classes.

Join global award-winning hip hop dance crew ZBoyz and the team from LA Talent School for a special hip hop class or explore everyday chemistry in a hands-on science workshop.

 2.    Bop along to the musical acts at the Sound Stage:

It's not a festival without musical acts - and the Sound Stage program doesn't disappoint. X-Factor winner Cyrus is headlining the Sound Stage on October 8, with a huge range of acts on over the weekend.  Dance crews the Hellraizers and ZBoyz will have the crowd grooving while the Australian Taylor Swift and Katy Perry Tribute acts are sure to have everyone singing along to their favourite pop hits.

We're also rather intrigued by father-son musical duo Battlebird, described as 'Hot Potato meets Hotline Bling'.

3.    Be awed and inspired with the Science Shows:

Twice a day, Fizzics will take to the stage with two different science shows: "Big Science, Big Fun!" and Tick Tick Boom! See gigantic bubbles, electricity experiments and liquid nitrogen demos and learn the science behind explosions (along with a demonstration on the importance of chemical safety). Your kids will love it – and you might learn a thing or two yourself…

4.   Learn some circus skills at Circus School

If you – or your kids – have ever wanted to run off and join the circus, then you're in for a treat. Learn some circus skills under the supervision of qualified instructors in a fun, safe and informal environment.

The circus playground is open from 10 am – 6pm each day of the festival. For more information, click here

5.    Meet some furry friends:

Bring your little ones to see – and feed – some cuddly farm animals. There are rabbits, chickens, goats lambs and sheep. And don't forget your camera for all those furry selfies.

6.    Try one of the many rides and sideshow alley games at the funfair:

Thrill-seekers unite! With a Ferris Wheel, dodgem cars, a Giant Slide and a kids playground, there's something for everyone in the family. Pick up an unlimited rides pass and let the kids go wild.

7.    Catch a movie under the stars:

After a busy day of Kidtopian adventures, relax under the stars at the open-air cinema.  The film is still a secret – but rest assured it's one the whole family will love.

And that's just a taste of what's an offer over the three jam-packed days of the festival.
