Popular Perth amusement park Great Escape has been closed indefinitely and its future is uncertain, with the lease running out for the current operators and the venue's phone apparently disconnected.
Property management agency the Wyllie Group has a long-term lease with the Department of Transport covering parts of the commercial retail and recreation space of Hillarys Boat Harbour - including the Great Escape.
Wyllie Group chief operation officer Todd Morcombe confirmed the park's closure was due to a tenancy issue.
"The current operator no longer has the lease, so we are desperately looking to fill that tenancy," he said.
The Great Escape has long since been a staple of tourist hub Hillarys Boat Harbour during their summer season, but punters were left in the dark following the closure for alleged "maintenance".
"After checking your website we decided to bring our kids for a fun school holiday activity on Friday, only to discover that after our hour long drive, you were closed for maintenance," one post said.
"Not only is it ridiculous timing in school holidays, but you're too ignorant to even put it up on your website and let people know. Thanks a lot, you morons."
Another commenter said the park was now impossible to contact.
"Many unanswered phone calls and countless emails sent- guess I'll take my business elsewhere!" another commenter said.
The park seems to have disconnected its phone lines, and sources told WAtoday employees had received letters of termination from the business.
During the winter, the park closes the waterslides but leaves its dry attractions available to the public.
However, the park has been completely closed since the beginning of June, and the waterslides had been due for re-opening on Saturday.
