This paper focuses on the most affected areas by these policies in the Old City, where the implantation of Israeli colonies and colonizers, among other practices, has resulted in the forcible transfer of significant numbers of Palestinians from their homes.

On World Refugee Day: Palestinians refugees remain deprived of international protection.

After 68 years of ongoing forced displacement from, and within, their homeland, Palestinian refugees remain the largest and longest-standing refugee population in the world. As of 2015, there were 7.25 million Palestinian refugees in the world, and over 700,000 internally displaced Palestinians. Moreover, these numbers are destined to increase for as long as Israel maintains its denial of Palestinian refugees’ right of return, coupled with its relentless forced displacement of Palestinians throughout Historic Palestine by way of a range of discriminatory policies.

BADIL joins Human Rights Watch in calling upon the Office of the Prosecutor to begin formal investigation into international crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territory.

On 5 June 2016, Human Rights Watch (HRW) called on the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to open a formal investigation into alleged serious international crimes committed in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

The Court now has at its disposal a wealth of information upon ...which such a decision can be based, and the BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights (BADIL) has joined a host of Palestinian and international human rights organizations in submitting to the ICC information documenting a range of international crimes committed by Israeli citizens in the oPt.

The BADIL Resource Center for Palestinian Residency and Refugee Rights (BADIL), Al-Haq, and the Cairo Institute for Human Rights Studies (CIHRS) draw attention to discriminatory Israeli policies inside Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, and outline how such policies create an impossible living environment for the resident Palestinian population. This, in turn, has resulted in significant forced displacement. Such actions are, therefore, entirely consistent with the legal defi...nition of forcible transfer, which is both a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention and prosecutable as a war crime and a crime against humanity. Accordingly, BADIL, Al-Haq and CIHRS call upon all relevant actors to condemn Israel’s forcible transfer of Palestinian residents of Hebron, and demand that third party states uphold their legal obligations to ensure respect for the Geneva Conventions and to hold to account all individuals responsible for the commission of international crimes.
