A man has allegedly assaulted two protective services officers with an axe at Dandenong train station.
Police spokesman Thomas O'Byrne said the PSOs approached the man at Dandenong train station on Sunday about 3.25am.
He said as the PSOs were attempting to speak with the man when they were allegedly first assaulted, before he ran away.
"As PSOs chased the man it's alleged he threw an axe at them," he said.

With the assistance of police, the PSOs arrested the man in nearby Walker Street.
Paramedics treated the PSOs at the scene for minor injuries.
A Dandenong man, 36, was charged with a number of assault-related offences, including assault to police.
He was held in custody and appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Sunday.
