Internships

INTERNSHIPS

The Indypendent is currently accepting applications for our summer internship program. The rolling application deadline is May 15 and the internship program begins soon thereafter.

Undergraduate and graduate students or community members with previous reporting experience or one year of completed journalism coursework are encouraged to apply.

We are seeking interns who are hard-working, organized, enjoy working both independently and as a part of a team, and are dedicated to high-quality journalism in pursuit of social justice.

Interns will work every week during regular business hours for the length of the program. We will mentor interns to improve their journalism skills, including training in story development, interviewing, information gathering and editing. Interns will also be expected to help with the editorial and administrative tasks vital to the daily functioning of The Indypendent’s newspaper and website. These range from distributing newspapers, website maintenance, production and fact-checking to research projects, volunteer outreach and administrative tasks.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, resume and two published news clips to Alina Mogilyanskaya at alina@indypendent.org no later than May 15.

Please note that the internship is unpaid.
