Immunotherapy
Immunotherapy is the "treatment of disease by inducing, enhancing, or suppressing an immune response". Immunotherapies designed to elicit or amplify an immune response are classified as activation immunotherapies, while immunotherapies that reduce or suppress are classified as suppression immunotherapies.
Immunomodulators
The active agents of immunotherapy are collectively called immunomodulators. They are a diverse array of recombinant, synthetic and natural preparations, often cytokines. Some of these substances, such as granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF), interferons, imiquimod and cellular membrane fractions from bacteria are already licensed for use in patients. Others including IL-2, IL-7, IL-12, various chemokines, synthetic cytosine phosphate-guanosine (CpG) oligodeoxynucleotides and glucans are currently being investigated extensively in clinical and preclinical studies. Immunomodulatory regimens offer an attractive approach as they often have fewer side effects than existing drugs, including less potential for creating resistance in microbial diseases.

The most effective way of fighting cancer cells is by exploiting the differences between cancer cells and normal cells. Many cancer cells have methionine dependency. Which means that if you were to grow normal cells in a petri dish, and did not introduce the amino acid methionine, then the cancer cells would die due to lack of methionine. Methionine is found mainly in food , so by eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, you can reduce your intake of methionine.
About a third of the most common cancers can be prevented by eating a plant based diet, due to the fact that the plants have an angiogenesis inhibitor that restricts the supply of blood to the tumor, and as a result, the tumor is unable to grow without a constant supply of blood.
Cancer cells are always present in our bodies, but they are unable to grow to be bigger than the size of the tip of a pen without a constant supply of blood. But tumors release chemicals, like Vascular Endiothelial Growth Factor, or VEGF, that are the cause of angiogenesis. Angiogenesis is the creation of new blood vessels, so anti-angiogenesis is the process of restricting the supply of blood to the tumor. Anti-angiogenesis can be achieved by eating fruits and vegetables like kale, broccoli,spinach, blueberries,apples,tomatoes,and many many more. These foods contain flavonoids and fisetin which are dietary agents that can aid in anti-angiogenesis, by blocking or restricting the creation of blood vessels. This suggests that a vegan diet could be quite beneficial for preventing angiogenesis in cancer cells.
Spontaneous Regression occurs in a patient that may have cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, but by removing the main source tumor, the remaining tumors simply go away. But this remedy works too infrequently. IL-2 shocks the immune system in a way that causes the immune system to seek out and kill cancer cells. Yet IL-2 works only about 10% of the time.
Vaccines like the flu shot, stimulate the immune system to protect you against a virus. A personalized autologous vaccine is generated from the patients tumor. Check point blockers, block the barrier between the immune system and the cancer cells, allowing the immune system to attack the cancer cells, yet only about 20% to 30% benefit from this treatment.
