Thought I posted this a long time ago. Well here it was in the posting queue. I’m pretty absent at the moment. Got stuck in a loop recording music which feels a bit more rewarding than posting music at the moment. I’ll be here on and off until I got some more inspiration. Martin will keep it up until then.

A massive favorite of mine, even if I can’t put my finger on why I like it so much. Both songs are sort of slow, or medium paced at best. The vocals are pretty emotional and sounds a bit sad (despite I have no idea of what he sings about) but I’m sure they’re great as the singer later on became a writer under the hilarious monkier Thierry Tuborg. But the songs are melodic and catchy and they just keep on growing on me, and despite I’ve been playing this 7″ for close to 10 years now it still makes me as happy.
The band made lots of recordings, and there are at least 4 full compilations of their recordings, both live and from the studio, but unfortunately this was their only release during their existance. I’d recomend that you pick up one of the comps with their studio material as the band obviously knew what they were doing and had a very clear idea on how to write good songs.
The sleeve one this one is amazing by the way! And they recorded in Isis’ studio long before the rest of the western world found out about all their cool activities, as cheap studio time, flag waving, terrorism and bombing of things in general.

The young Johnnies from Christchurch in New Zealand released this, their only EP, in 1982 in and edition of 500 copies, and the title track is about Johnny Chanley who used to roadie for this amazing band and who died under sort of mysterious circumcisions.
The 4 boys in the brigade had no sympathy for the oi movement, and neither for the skinhead nazi scene that started to show it’s ugly head all over the western world at around that time, and for that I thank them. It’s still OK to shave your head, wear boots and braces, but as soon as you start to groove to the music with a stiff right arm you’re no friend of mine. I don’t want no oppression, no war, no government, just Jonnarchy, piss and EQ-quality! There there!

A long time ago since this one found it’s way to the posting queue and I have a vague memory of ripping it years ago but wasn’t satisfied with the rips. These days I’m not so picky, so here you go.
I guess most of you know that this is concidered to be the first punk album from Sweden, which I don’t really agree with as at least Ravjunk’s LP Uppsala stadshotell brinner, Problem’s self titled LP and the Ljud fran Friberga comp was released prior to this one. Doesn’t really matter though as it’s a massive and murky slammer no matter what.
Highlights in my humble opinion include the drums in the intro to Get fucked (but not the lyrics), the thick and plodding bass playing and sound, the overall murkiness of the recording, the paper structure of the sleeve, the grumpiness and general frustration that reeks from every single track of this LP, the intense hate to their hometown Gavle, how easy it is to hear that they learned how to play faster since their debut E.P., the title of the first and last song on side B that goes so well together, that they didn’t speed up Ganget fran 60 and Rocken i Gavle and last but not least the amazing album title.
This one has been reissued and bootleged a few times and the last reissue was done by Canada’s Ugly Pop last year, and if you have a copy of that you can see yours truly in the thank you list I’ve been told. Simon, who run that label, asked around for photoes etc for the inlay and I sent him the insert that came with my copy. I was told I’d get a free copy as a thank you, but I’m still waiting for that one…
Speaking of the insert, my copy is the only one I’ve seen with it, and it’s a review of the album from a major Swedish news paper, but the thing that’s more interesting is that it’s got the Pang records logo header and the text “News from Pang records”. Pang was supposed to release the bands second album, but as the label wanted the band to smear dog shit on each other on the cover art, and sing “provocative” lyrics about piss, shit, fucking whores etc the guys told the label to fuck off and recorded the album themselves instead in 1979. Unfortunately it wasn’t released until 1997 as it’s their best work in my opinion, and it would’ve been another Swedish classic. Now it seems like a lot of people don’t know about it, which really is a shame. From what I’ve heard, Pang records handed the distribution for this album for a little while, and I guess that the insert came from that period.

Obscure powerpop on the same label as bands like the teen punks in Arsenik, the slighly punky rockers in Emergency, the sloppy teen hardrockers in Turbo and Gröna Hissen that ends up sounding pretty punky as well as a few other acts.
You all know Ebba Gron’s debut LP is called “We’re only in it for the drugs” which these guys thought was a dumb title, so they stated “We’re only in it for the milk” on the back of the sleeve, and it’s a nice photo of the guys hanging out in Korovas’ on the front. I think that Teen Idles got their song I drink milk from the Stains, but they never managed to come up to the speed these lads mastered. Everyone shreds, but the drummer is exceptional! Just listen to that ride and see if you can hear the individual hits, or if you just hear a wall of sound!
