Joshua Thomas McDaniels (born April 22, 1976) is an American football coach who is the offensive coordinator of the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).
In 2009, McDaniels was hired as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. At the time of his hiring, 33-year-old McDaniels was the youngest head coach in the NFL, although less than a week later the Tampa Bay Buccaneers named Raheem Morris, who is five months younger, as their head coach. McDaniels was fired by Denver after a 3–9 start in 2010. He spent the 2011 season as offensive coordinator of the St. Louis Rams, but he was released by the Rams for the 2011–12 NFL playoffs to serve as an offensive assistant for the Patriots in their run to Super Bowl XLVI.
McDaniels is the son of Thom McDaniels (the 1997 USA Today High School Coach of the Year and often described as a "legend" of Ohio high school football). Attending his father's practices during his youth has been credited with inspiring McDaniels to enter coaching.
Josh is a diminutive of the given name Joshua. "Josh" may also refer to:
Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. (born August 3, 1977), is an American football quarterback for the New England Patriots of the National Football League (NFL).
After playing college football for the University of Michigan, Tom Brady was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2000 NFL draft. In Brady's 14 seasons as a starter (he did not start as a rookie, and missed nearly all of 2008 with a torn ACL), the Patriots have earned six trips to the Super Bowl (the most for any quarterback, ever), winning four. Brady has won three Super Bowl MVP (Super Bowl XXXVI, XXXVIII, and XLIX) and two league MVP awards (2007 and 2010), has been selected to eleven Pro Bowls, and has led the Patriots to more division titles (13) than any other quarterback in NFL history. Brady is fifth all-time in career passing yards and third in career touchdown passes. His career postseason record is 22–9; he has won more playoff games than any other QB, and appeared in more playoff games than any player at any position. He led the Patriots when they set the NFL record for the longest consecutive win streak, including the playoffs, with 21 straight wins in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. He also set the record for most consecutive playoff wins with 10, and in 2007 led the Patriots to the first undefeated regular season since the season was expanded to 16 games. He has thrown for more passing yards and touchdowns than any quarterback in NFL postseason history, and has the sixth highest career passer rating of all time (96.6) among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 career passing attempts.

Josh McDaniels has a fist-pumping conniption fit after his Denver Broncos move to 5-0 on the 2009 NFL season. Too bad for poor Joshy there were only three more victories to be had. Clearly a case of premature fist-pumpulation. Look for even less fist-pumps next year when McMoron won't be blessed with all the good fortune he enjoyed this year, and is exposed for the idiot he is: The kind that would seek to trade away a 25 year-old Pro Bowl quarterback for no reason, other than because of a massive ego that makes him think his system is what wins games, not the players in it.

A short list of NFL assistants who could get interest for NFL head coaching jobs: New England Patriots OC Josh McDaniels McDaniels, 40, has learned a lot since his short-lived stint as head coach of the Denver Broncos (11-17 before he was fired late in the 2010 season). He’s as smart as they come, knows Xs and Os and is respected for his work with quarterbacks, notably helping Tom Brady to some of his best seasons. Three teams requested McDaniels for interviews soon after the Patriots’ regular season ended. It’s just a matter of whether a job is compelling enough to leave New England. Atlanta Falcons OC Kyle Shanahan Shanahan, 37, has people in the league talking about the creativity he showed with the Falcons’ offense, which led the NFL in scoring (540 points). His Super Bowl-winning ...
