Police appeal for help to find car involved in fatal hit-and-run

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information on a fatal hit-and-run in Mossman in Far North Queensland on Saturday morning to come forward.

Authorities are still searching for the the vehicle involved in the incident, which is described as black with damage to one of its headlights.

A member of the public found a critically injured 24-year-old Trinity Beach man on Junction Road around 4.45am. Emergency services attended and the man was declared dead at the scene.

Anyone who saw the vehicle or the hit-and-run itself are encouraged to come forward.

Police have also reported the death of a woman on a Brisbane road on Friday night.

The 69-year-old Taigum woman was crossing Lemke Road at Taigum around 8pm when she was struck by a car travelling south.

The woman died at the scene and the driver of the car is assisting police with investigations.

Lemke Road between Telegraph Road and Roghan Road was closed after the incident and traffic diversions were in place for some time.

The Forensic Crash Unit are investigating both incidents.
