A man holding a baby has endured a terrifying attack in Maroochydore on Friday afternoon.
Police say that the 42-year-old was sitting in a car holding a baby when an argument erupted with another man.
Police allege the man holding the baby was then stabbed in the back before managing to escape.
The offender then fled in a white Holden Commodore station wagon.
The 42-year-old, who police say knew his attacker, was taken to Nambour Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The baby was not injured.
