Bill de Blasio (born Warren Wilhelm, Jr., May 8, 1961, later renamed temporarily "Warren de Blasio-Wilhelm") is an American politician who is serving as the 109th mayor of New York City. From 2010 to 2013, he held the citywide office of New York City Public Advocate, serving as an ombudsman between the electorate and the city government. He formerly served as a New York City Council member, representing the 39th District in Brooklyn, which contains Borough Park, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Gowanus, Kensington, Park Slope, and Windsor Terrace. De Blasio, the Democratic Party nominee for mayor of New York City in the 2013 election, defeated Republican Joe Lhota with more than 73 percent of the vote. De Blasio is the first Democratic mayor of the city since David Dinkins was in office from 1990 to 1993.
He ran for mayor promising to end stop and frisk and heal bitter relations between the New York Police Department and many New Yorkers, especially African Americans. His tenure has seen a spike in anti-police protests and disaffection with law enforcement, and he has been charged by the NYPD union with putting the interests of protesters above those of the police. He initiated new de-escalation training for officers, reduced marijuana prosecutions, and oversaw the beginning of body cameras worn by police. De Blasio approved a $41 million settlement for the five men whose convictions in the 1989 Central Park jogger case were overturned and ended a post-9/11 surveillance program to spy on Muslim New Yorkers.
Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's career, branding efforts, personal life, wealth, and outspoken manner have made him famous throughout the country. Since 2015, he is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.
Trump is a native of New York City and a son of Fred Trump, who inspired him to enter real estate development. After two years at Fordham University and while studying at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Trump worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son. Upon graduating in 1968 he joined the company, and in 1971 was given control, renaming the company "The Trump Organization". Since then he has built hotels, golf courses, and other properties, many of which bear his name. He is a major figure in the American business scene and has received prominent media exposure. The NBC reality show The Apprentice bolstered his fame, and his three marriages were extensively reported in tabloids.

On Tuesday, a house explosion killed a battalion chief who had been considered a rising star in the Fire Department of New York. Michael Fahy, a 17-year fire department veteran and father of three, was directing operations from the street when he was hit by falling debris from the explosion. Fahy had been on the scene to oversee an evacuation following a report of a gas leak, and authorities also said that they were looking whether the building was being used to grow marijuana. After meeting with Fahy's family at a hospital, NYC mayor Bill de Blasio said Tuesday, "This is a reminder of the dangers that our first responders face every day, the dangers that the men and women of the FDNY face and the bravery with which they do their job." http://hosted2.ap.org/APDEFAULT/386c25518f464186bf7a2a...

Bo Dietl, the former Fox News personality and ex-cop is throwing his hat in the ring against Bill de Blasio in the mayoral race. He believes that 98 percent of sexual-harassment cases are “BS” and that there is an “epidemic of rapes” caused by “illegal aliens." He has insisted for nearly two years that he will run for mayor of New York City in 2017. Now, it appears he finally has the papers to prove it. The former Fox commentator has long made clear his disdain for New York mayor Bill de Blasio, whom he tauntingly calls “Big Bird.” Despite his conservative leanings and allies, he says he’s running as a Democrat to target incumbent de Blasio. http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/thedailybeast/articles/~3/oG-nynk6A3c/bo-dietl-roger-ailes-s-top-detective-is-running-for-nyc-mayor.html http://www.woc...
