"When Joe Scarborough is absolutely right about the Democratic Party, that is a very bad sign.
While discussing the Wyoming caucuses on his show “Morning Joe” today, Scarborough expressed dismay at the fact that although Bernie Sanders won by nearly 12 points, Hillary Clinton has nevertheless picked up the most delegates (11 to 7). “Why does the Democratic Party even have voting booths?” Scarborough exclaimed in barely concealed outrage. “This system is so rigged!”
It’s hard to argue with the man’s logic. Sanders has won eight of the last nine primaries, which in a normal election year would be considered a sign of unstoppable momentum. In national polls, he is statistically neck-and-neck with Clinton, and he has whipped up unprecedented enthusiasm among young voters. All of this is rendered more impressive when you consider that the party establishment has attempted to stave him off from the get-go, with the debates themselves being scheduled so as to place him (and all other challengers to Clinton, for that matter) at a distinct disadvantage, and with only a handful of elected Democrats even endorsing his campaign.”*

"Likely Democratic caucusgoers in Nevada are split almost evenly between Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders ahead of Saturday's caucuses, according to a new CNN/ORC Poll.
Though Clinton holds an edge over Sanders on handling a range of top issues, the results suggest the extremely close race hinges on divided opinions on the economy.

"Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has cut into Hillary Clinton's lead by more than two dozen delegates, based on new data from Washington state, but his chances of winning the nomination haven't gotten much better. Clinton won the Guam caucus.
In Guam, the party said Clinton won 60 percent of the vote to earn four of the seven delegates at stake. Sanders will pick up three delegates.
The Pacific island is one of five U.S. territories that casts votes in primaries and caucuses to decide the nominee, even though those residents aren't eligible to vote in November. Often overlooked, Guam this election cycle drew attention from both the presidential candidates, who ran radio advertisements in a bid to scoop up any possible delegate in the final stretch of primaries and caucuses.
Combined with some delegate gains in Washington state, Clinton now has more than 93 percent of the 2,383 delegates needed to clinch the nomination as she seeks to look ahead to a November matchup against Republican Donald Trump. Sanders has said he will take his delegate fight to the floor of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia in July.”*

Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will face off for the second time in four days Wednesday night at Miami Dade College in Miami. The debate location gives the candidates a chance to appeal to Florida voters before the state offers up 246 delegates in its primary next week.
So far, Clinton is significantly ahead of Sanders in the delegate count, but the Vermont senator vows he will stay in the race until the convention, and his campaign has emphasized that it is ready for a long slog. Sanders scored a big symbolic win in Michigan Tuesday, just one day before the debate, but he effectively tied Clinton in delegates there and she took home a large win in Mississippi, putting her farther ahead in the count. The former secretary of state has scored big wins in Southern states with many black voters and large delegate counts, while Sanders has typically fared better in small, whiter states that hold caucuses.
Sanders has struggled to win over minority voters, often ceding those groups to Clinton by overwhelming margins. In Florida, Clinton holds a wide lead in state polling, but both candidates have been highlighting their support for immigration reform and criticizing one another’s records on the topic.
Immigration will surely be an issue during Wednesday’s debate given the involvement by Univision, the Spanish-language TV network. This could give Sanders another opportunity to make headway among Latino voters.

1952
Senator Estes Kefauver of Tennessee defeated President Harry S. Truman in the New Hampshire primary becoming the first person to ever drive an incumbent from the race during the 20th Century. Kefauver swept the primaries, but there weren't enough to be able to win the nomination.
1956
Adlai Stevenson, who had won the 1952 nomination on third ballot, defeated Estes Kefauver in the early primaries, thus becoming the last losing Democratic Presidential nominee to win a second nomination. He would lose again.
1960
Senator John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts defeated Senator Hubert H. Humphrey of Minnesota in the two contested primaries.
1964
Governor George Wallace of Alabama made a feeble challenge to President Lyndon Johnson and his surrogates, who were running because he pretended not to be running.
1968
In the last successful challenge to an incumbent President, Senator Eugene J. McCarthy of Minnesota came extremely close to defeating President Johnson in New Hampshire, and with polls showing him winning Wisconsin and the entry of Senator Robert Kennedy of New York, the President withdrew from the race.

Bernie Sanders
Bernard "Bernie" Sanders (born September 8, 1941) is an American politician and the junior United States Senator from Vermont. He is a candidate for the Democratic nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 U.S. presidential election. A Democrat as of 2015, Sanders had been the longest-serving independent in U.S. congressional history, though his caucusing with the Democrats entitled him to committee assignments and at times gave Democrats a majority. Sanders has been the ranking minority member on the Senate Budget Committee since January 2015, and previously served for two years as chair of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee.
Sanders was born and raised in the New York City borough of Brooklyn and graduated from the University of Chicago in 1964. While a student, he was an active civil rights protest organizer for the Congress of Racial Equality and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. After settling in Vermont in 1968, Sanders ran unsuccessful third-party campaigns for governor and U.S. senator in the early to mid-1970s. As an independent, he was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont's most populous city, in 1981, and was reelected three times. In 1990, he was elected to represent Vermont's at-large congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 1991, Sanders co-founded the Congressional Progressive Caucus. He served as a congressman for 16 years before being elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006. In 2012, he was reelected with 71% of the popular vote. During the 2016 presidential primaries, Sanders became the first self-described democratic socialist and first Jewish American to win a presidential primary of a major party, namely the New Hampshire primary.

"Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has cut into Hillary Clinton's lead by more than two dozen delegates, based on new data from Washington state, but his chances of winning the nomination haven't gotten much better. Clinton won the Guam caucus. In Guam, the party said Clinton won 60 percent of the vote to earn four of the seven delegates at stake. Sanders will pick up three delegates. The Pacific island is one of five U.S. territories that casts votes in primaries and caucuses to decide the nominee, even though those residents aren't eligible to vote in November. Often overlooked, Guam this election cycle drew attention from both the presidential candidates, who ran radio advertisements in a bid to scoop up any possible delegate in the final stretch of primaries and caucuses. Combined with some delegate gains in Washington state, Clinton now has more than 93 percent of the 2,383 delegates needed to clinch the nomination as she seeks to look ahead to a November matchup against Republican Donald Trump. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 Univision Democratic Debate 9pm ET (8pm CT, 7pm MT, 6pm PT) Moderators: Karen Tumulty, Maria Elena Salinas and Jorge Ramos Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will face off for the second time in four days Wednesday night at Miami Dade College in Miami. The debate location gives the candidates a chance to appeal to Florida voters before the state offers up 246 delegates in its primary next week. So far, Clinton is significantly ahead of Sanders in the delegate count, but the Vermont senator vows he will stay in the race until the convention, and his campaign has emphasized that it is ready for a long slog. Sanders scored a big symbolic win in Michigan Tuesday, just one day before the debate, but he effectively tied Clinton in delegates there and she took home a large win in Mississippi, putting her farther ahead in the count. The former secretary of state has scored big wins in Southern states with many black voters and large delegate counts, while Sanders has typically fared better in small, whiter states that hold caucuses. Sanders has struggled to win over minority voters, often ceding those groups to Clinton by overwhelming margins. In Florida, Clinton holds a wide lead in state polling, but both candidates have been highlighting their support for immigration reform and criticizing one another’s records on the topic. Immigration will surely be an issue during Wednesday’s debate given the involvement by Univision, the Spanish-language TV network. This could give Sanders another opportunity to make headway among Latino voters. -

It’s hard to argue with the man’s logic. Sanders has won eight of the last nine primaries, which in a normal election year would be considered a sign of unstoppable momentum. In national polls, he is statistically neck-and-neck with Clinton, and he has whipped up unprecedented enthusiasm among young voters. All of this is rendered more impressive when you consider that the party establishment has attempted to stave him off from the get-go, with the debates themselves being scheduled so as to place him (and all other challengers to Clinton, for that matter) at a distinct disadvantage, and with only a handful of elected Democrats even endorsing his campaign.”*

Though Clinton holds an edge over Sanders on handling a range of top issues, the results suggest the extremely close race hinges on divided opinions on the economy.

"Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has cut into Hillary Clinton's lead by more than two dozen delegates, based on new data from Washington state, but his chances of winning the nomination haven't gotten much better. Clinton won the Guam caucus.
In Guam, the party said Clinton won 60 percent of the vote to earn four of the seven delegates at stake. Sanders will pick up three delegates.
The Pacific island is one of five U.S. territories that casts votes in primaries and caucuses to decide the nominee, even though those residents aren't eligible to vote in November. Often overlooked, Guam this election cycle drew attention from both the presidential candidates, who ran radio advertisements in a bid to scoop up any possible delegate in the final stretch of primaries and caucuses.
Combined with some delegate gains in Washington state, Clinton now has more than 93 percent of the 2,383 delegates needed to clinch the nomination as she seeks to look ahead to a November matchup against Republican Donald Trump. Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will face off for the second time in four days Wednesday night at Miami Dade College in Miami. The debate location gives the candidates a chance to appeal to Florida voters before the state offers up 246 delegates in its primary next week.
So far, Clinton is significantly ahead of Sanders in the delegate count, but the Vermont senator vows he will stay in the race until the convention, and his campaign has emphasized that it is ready for a long slog. Sanders scored a big symbolic win in Michigan Tuesday, just one day before the debate, but he effectively tied Clinton in delegates there and she took home a large win in Mississippi, putting her farther ahead in the count. The former secretary of state has scored big wins in Southern states with many black voters and large delegate counts, while Sanders has typically fared better in small, whiter states that hold caucuses.
Sanders has struggled to win over minority voters, often ceding those groups to Clinton by overwhelming margins. In Florida, Clinton holds a wide lead in state polling, but both candidates have been highlighting their support for immigration reform and criticizing one another’s records on the topic.
Immigration will surely be an issue during Wednesday’s debate given the involvement by Univision, the Spanish-language TV network. This could give Sanders another opportunity to make headway among Latino voters.

So far, Clinton is significantly ahead of Sanders in the delegate count, but the Vermont senator vows he will stay in the race until the convention, and his campaign has emphasized that it is ready for a long slog. Sanders scored a big symbolic win in Michigan Tuesday, just one day before the debate, but he effectively tied Clinton in delegates there and she took home a large win in Mississippi, putting her farther ahead in the count. The former secretary of state has scored big wins in Southern states with many black voters and large delegate counts, while Sanders has typically fared better in small, whiter states that hold caucuses.
Sanders has struggled to win over minority voters, often ceding those groups to Clinton by overwhelming margins. In Florida, Clinton holds a wide lead in state polling, but both candidates have been highlighting their support for immigration reform and criticizing one another’s records on the topic.
Immigration will surely be an issue during Wednesday’s debate given the involvement by Univision, the Spanish-language TV network. This could give Sanders another opportunity to make headway among Latino voters.
