The Postman is a post-apocalyptic science fiction novel by David Brin. In it, a drifter stumbles across a letter carrier uniform of the United States Postal Service and, with empty promises of aid from the "Restored United States of America", gives hope to an Oregon threatened by warlords.
The first two parts were published separately as "The Postman" (1982) and "Cyclops" (1984). Both were nominated for a Hugo Award for Best Novella. The completed novel won (first prize) the John W. Campbell Memorial Award for Best Science Fiction Novel and the Locus Award for Best Science Fiction Novel, both for 1986. It was also nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel and Nebula Award for Best Novel for 1986. In 1997, a film adaptation starring Kevin Costner was adapted from the novel.
Despite the post-apocalyptic scenario and several action sequences, the book is largely about civilization and symbols. Each of the three sections deals with a different symbol.
The first is the Postman himself, Gordon Krantz, who takes the uniform solely for warmth after he loses everything but his sleeping clothes. He wanders without establishing himself anywhere and performs scenes from William Shakespeare plays for supplies. Originally a student at the University of Minnesota, he has traveled west to Oregon in the aftermath of the worldwide chaos that resulted from several EMPs, the destruction of major cities, and the release of bioweapons. Taking shelter in a long-abandoned postal van, he finds a sack of mail and takes it to a nearby community to barter for food and shelter. His initial assertions to be a real postman builds not because of a deliberate fraud (at least initially) but because people are desperate to believe in him and the Restored United States.

Stevie B (born Steven Bernard Hill, April 19, 1958) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer, who was influential in the freestyle and Hi-NRG dance music scene of the late 1980s, mostly in Miami. Stevie B is perhaps best known for his 1990 number-one hit ballad "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)".
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Stevie B worked a variety of jobs — from car washing to fast food — before gaining recognition for his 1987 national club smash, "Party Your Body". It was also the title track of his 1988 debut LP, which eventually went gold. In 1989, he had his first top 40 hits with "I Wanna Be the One," "In My Eyes" and "Love Me For Life." With his 1990 album, Love & Emotion, he reached the height of his success, with the accompanying single, "Because I Love You" enjoying four weeks at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in December 1990. He had two subsequent top 15 hits from Love and Emotion with "I'll Be by Your Side" and the title track from the album.
"I Love" is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Tom T. Hall. It was released in October 1973 as the only single from the album, For the People in the Last Hard Town. The song would be Hall's most successful single and was his fourth number one on the U.S. country singles chart. The single spent two weeks at the top and a total of 15 weeks on the chart. "I Love" was Hall's only entry on the Top 40 peaking at number 12.
"I Love" was used, with altered lyrics, in a popular 2003 TV commercial for Coors Light.
The song was used in the film For No Good Reason.
"I Like", a parody version by Heathen Dan, was released on the 1983 compilation album The Rhino Brothers Present the World's Worst Records.

Do you really want to go down now?
Do you really want to know where I've been when i go out?
Can you understand what I'm feeling?
And do you understand what it means, man?
When you here the sound
Feels just like a pleasure
And when you hear the sound and you know
We're coming for the sound
Don't ever stop the pleasure
Remember what it's like coming down
And don't stop singing the song
That's what we said, we said
Don't ever stop the song
You can never stop, singing your song
Singing it loud and you're singing it long
And you can never stop
No, never stop, the song
You don't know that sound when it feels bad.
And you lost what you knew So you took what they had
Now you try to take it from others
But try and mess with us and you'll suffer brother!
When you here the sound
Feels just like a pleasure
And when you hear the sound and you know
We're coming for the sound
Don't ever stop the pleasure
Remember what it's like coming down
And don't stop singing the song
That's what we said, we said
Don't ever stop the song
You can never stop, singing your song
Singing it loud and you're singing it long
And you can never stop
