Media managers can be employed by individuals or corporations. They are employed to manage the social media accounts of the employer. In order to effectively manage social media, the manager must not only have a lot of experience in doing so, but they must be persistent in working to promote the company and to create an ever growing fan base.

The media manager must work with company executives to ensure that there is brand awareness and continuing traffic to company websites or social media profiles.

The managers must create and implement plans that will lead to future sales for a company. In some cases, the company may have already formed the plan and the manager must only implement it; the media manager must then focus on marketing the company through social media internet mediums to generate brand awareness.

The media manager must be well versed in Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media websites. They should be able to keep up to date with popular culture and trends, and also able to analyze data to ensure that correct marketing methods are being used.

Media managers also perform tasks on social media, they should be able to create presentations that can effectively communicate the successes or failures of their social media ventures to company executives. Media managers design profiles and pages.

They need to have a complete understanding of the main social media websites and know how to engage the target audience and increase sales of a company.
