Someday (short story)

"Someday" is a science fiction short story by Isaac Asimov. It was first published in the August 1956 issue of Infinity Science Fiction and reprinted in the collections Earth Is Room Enough (1957), The Complete Robot (1982), Robot Visions (1990), and The Complete Stories, Volume 1 (1990).

Plot summary

The story is set in a future where computers play a central role in organizing society. Humans are employed as computer operators, but they leave most of the thinking to machines. Indeed, whilst binary programming is taught at school, reading and writing have become obsolete.

The story concerns a pair of boys who dismantle and upgrade an old Bard, a child's computer whose sole function is to generate random fairy tales. The boys download a book about computers into the Bard's memory in an attempt to expand its vocabulary, but the Bard simply incorporates computers into its standard fairy tale repertoire. The story ends with the boys excitedly leaving the room after deciding to go to the library to learn "squiggles" (writing) as a means of passing secret messages to one another. As they leave, one of the boys accidentally kicks the Bard's on switch. The Bard begins reciting a new story about a poor mistreated and often ignored robot called the Bard, whose sole purpose is to tell stories, which ends with the words: "the little computer knew then that computers would always grow wiser and more powerful until someday—someday—someday—…"

"Someday" is a song by the indie rock band The Strokes, and the third single from Is This It. It peaked at #17 on the U.S. Alternative Songs chart and at #27 on the U.K. Singles Chart.

The music video for the song was directed by Roman Coppola and features appearances by Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum - the guitarist, bassist, and drummer from Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver - as well as the members of Guided by Voices. The video also features Richard Karn as himself, while The Strokes take on Guided by Voices in a fictional game of Family Feud.

This song was featured in the 2006 movie Click, starring Adam Sandler, and on the Major League Baseball 2K8 soundtrack.

It was sampled on Rhymefest's song "Devil's Pie" - produced by Mark Ronson - from his album Blue Collar.

Colors (video game)

Colors is a Gizmondo game that uses the console's GPS system to allow the player to play in the area where the player is located in real life, in the game. Colors was intended to be the world’s first GPS video game, but due to Gizmondo’s bankruptcy, it was never officially released.

There was a mostly complete version of Colors that was circulated on the Internet. When first playing Colors, it appears the multiplayer game, called TurfWar, is offline. After a player gains 30,000 dollars, it unlocks. Another unlockable is the tag editor which allows players to spraypaint custom tags around the city. It is unlocked after beating a certain mission in the game.

The multiplayer mode of the game does not function.

On November 30th 2015, Carl Freer announced plans to re-release the game for iOS and Google Play.

Gameplay

Gameplay in Colors is very similar to many popular third person shooter games, like Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil 4, or Max Payne. Its targeting system is odd, in that you cannot manually target body parts like the head or arms, but instead, the reticle moves automatically, slowing down and becoming more precise depending on the player's movement. If he or she strafes or moves more while targeting, then the reticle wildly bobs around, becoming hard to aim and shoot accurately.

Morandi is a Romanian Europop music group composed of Marius Moga and Andrei Ştefan Ropcea (Randi). The group's name derives from the first two letters of Moga's name and Ropcea's nickname, Randi, creating Morandi.

Musical career

Aside from being successful in Romania, the group ranked highly on several pan-European charts (including the MTV Europe chart and the World Chart Express) and became probably the most successful band in the history of Eastern Europe after O-Zone. Their music is very popular among young people in Russia, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Republic of Macedonia, Lithuania and Ukraine. Morandi were nominated as Best Romanian Act both at the 2005 MTV Europe Music Awards and 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and won the award at the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards. "Angels" was called "Most successful track 2008" in Russia.

Colors (soundtrack)

Colors is the soundtrack of the 1988 film Colors. It was released on April 26, 1988, by Warner Bros. Records and mostly consisted of hip hop music. The soundtrack found success, peaking at 31 on the Billboard 200 and was certified gold on July 12, 1988, but it is best remembered for its title track performed by Ice-T. The single wasn't a huge success on the charts, only making it to 70 on the Billboard Hot 100.
