The Isle of Man Steam Railway is 3 foot gauge and runs 15.3 miles from Douglas to Port Erin. The railway kindly allowed me to ride the entire length of the line on steam locomotive #12 Hutchinson built in 1908 by Beyer Peacock. #4 Loch & #11 Maitland as well as an ex County Donegal Railways railbus are also seen in operation. The video includes a tour of the workshops and engine shed.

Im Frühjahr 1989 präsentierte MAN mit dem NL 202 einen Niederflurbus. Dieser optisch dem VÖV-Standard-II-Bus SL 202 entlehnte Bus war mit zwei und auch mit drei Türen lieferbar, alle Sitze waren auf Podesten angebracht. Die Busse sind als Diesel- und Erdgasvarianten lieferbar gewesen.
Schon 1992 wurde der NL 202 vom MAN NL 202(2) abgelöst. Er entspricht optisch weitgehend dem NL 202. Wesentlichster Unterschied war die podestarme Anordnung der Sitze und eine Knicklinie im Fensterband. Er wurde trotzdem als eigene Baureihe geführt.
Inzwischen wurden die NL 202 bei den meisten Verkehrsbetrieben ausgemustert und sind meist nur noch bei privaten Busbetreibern oder im Ausland im Einsatz.

Between May14th and May 20th of 1992 I returned to the Isle Of Man (IOM) where I had not been since 1976.
I first experienced the Isle of Man Railway (IOMR) in 1967 during a visit to see my Grandparents who had retired there in 1963. The steam railway on the IOM, although not a standard gauge railway (it is 3' gauge), reminded me greatly of Trinidad's railways. Like was the case in Trinidad, the IOM system ran from a grand central station in the capital Douglas to three distinct terminus at opposite ends of the island. In the beginning all of the Locomotives were of very similar tank engine design and the railway imported diesel railcars towards the end of life as part of the original company.
Unlike was the case in Trinidad, the IOMR railway has survived and at least one of the three main lines is still in operation today.
These images were captured on my video camera between May 14th and 20th of 1992. The Locomotives in service were behind No11 MAITLAND, No12 HUTCHINSON and No4 LOCH.

An average day sees about 220,000 passengers go to and fro through the train systems, making it the busiest stop in the system. The Stockholm Metro is already regarded as the world’s longest art gallery, and the T-Centralen Station certainly kept up the standard with it’s own collection of gorgeous hand painted murals, like you see in this picture. The strangest thing about this railway station isn’t the unique title of the longest art gallery; it’s the fact that the station’s design incorporates the original cavern walls of the city’s core, no man-made materials were added. #4 - The World’s Longest Rail Tunnel After nearly two decades of grueling construction work, the world’s longest and deepest rail tunnel opened officially in Switzerland in 2016. The 35-mile long tunnel provides a faster link between northern and southern Europe. The line, which runs under the Swiss Alps is pictured here; it seems never ending. #3 - The Palmerston North-Gisborne Railway Line Talk about dangerous! This bizarre railway in New Zealand has a train track running right through an aircraft runway! Just look at the close proximity in these pictures. The Gisborne Airport is rather small, only having three grass runways, one main, paved runway, a single terminal and only two tarmac gates. One of the most interesting facts that surrounds this strange railway is that when a train gets close to the runway, they must stop and gain clearance from air traffic control before they can cross and continue down the line. #2 - The Estacion de Atocha The Estacion de Atocha is the largest railway system in Madrid. What’s spectacular or bizarre in this railway system isn’t the train itself, but rather, the train station. In 1992, the station decided to bring part of the jungle inside to keep the people waiting for the next train entertained. The 4,000 square meter jungle boasts over 500 species of plants and animals. That’s enough things to keep you occupied for however long your wait is. #1 - The Hanoi Railway The Hanoi Railway is a vital part of transportation within the Vietnam city of Hanoi. The station is the central starting point of the five railway lines that lead to almost every province in Vietnam. The bizarre part about this railway system is the track location in relation to the city’s residents. You can tell from this picture that this locomotive has quite a tight squeeze. Here you can see how close the tracks are to businesses and markets around the provinces. Some pop-up shops have to be dismantled when the train is approaching to let it pass. -

This is the bizarre moment a car ended up getting a piggyback from another vehicle in a train station car park. It seems that one driver was a bit too eager to make the train to work yesterday (Tue) after one car seemingly parked on top of another. In an unexplained series of events, the silver Mazda Speed was spotted with its rear end sitting on top of the roof and bonnet of a white Volkswagen Golf. And to make matters worse, a large sign saying "parking out of bays is an offence" toppled over next to the cars at Kirkcaldy railway station in Fife. -

The Isle of Man Steam Railway is 3 foot gauge and runs 15.3 miles from Douglas to Port Erin. The railway kindly allowed me to ride the entire length of the line on steam locomotive #12 Hutchinson built in 1908 by Beyer Peacock. #4 Loch & #11 Maitland as well as an ex County Donegal Railways railbus are also seen in operation. The video includes a tour of the workshops and engine shed.

Im Frühjahr 1989 präsentierte MAN mit dem NL 202 einen Niederflurbus. Dieser optisch dem VÖV-Standard-II-Bus SL 202 entlehnte Bus war mit zwei und auch mit drei Türen lieferbar, alle Sitze waren auf Podesten angebracht. Die Busse sind als Diesel- und Erdgasvarianten lieferbar gewesen.
Schon 1992 wurde der NL 202 vom MAN NL 202(2) abgelöst. Er entspricht optisch weitgehend dem NL 202. Wesentlichster Unterschied war die podestarme Anordnung der Sitze und eine Knicklinie im Fensterband. Er wurde trotzdem als eigene Baureihe geführt.
Inzwischen wurden die NL 202 bei den meisten Verkehrsbetrieben ausgemustert und sind meist nur noch bei privaten Busbetreibern oder im Ausland im Einsatz.

I first experienced the Isle of Man Railway (IOMR) in 1967 during a visit to see my Grandparents who had retired there in 1963. The steam railway on the IOM, although not a standard gauge railway (it is 3' gauge), reminded me greatly of Trinidad's railways. Like was the case in Trinidad, the IOM system ran from a grand central station in the capital Douglas to three distinct terminus at opposite ends of the island. In the beginning all of the Locomotives were of very similar tank engine design and the railway imported diesel railcars towards the end of life as part of the original company.
Unlike was the case in Trinidad, the IOMR railway has survived and at least one of the three main lines is still in operation today.
These images were captured on my video camera between May 14th and 20th of 1992. The Locomotives in service were behind No11 MAITLAND, No12 HUTCHINSON and No4 LOCH.

#5 - The T-Centralen Station
T-Centralen is the only station in the Stockholm Metro railway system where all of the lines of Stockholm Metro meet. An average day sees about 220,000 passengers go to and fro through the train systems, making it the busiest stop in the system. The Stockholm Metro is already regarded as the world’s longest art gallery, and the T-Centralen Station certainly kept up the standard with it’s own collection of gorgeous hand painted murals, like you see in this picture. The strangest thing about this railway station isn’t the unique title of the longest art gallery; it’s the fact that the station’s design incorporates the original cavern walls of the city’s core, no man-made materials were added.

After nearly two decades of grueling construction work, the world’s longest and deepest rail tunnel opened officially in Switzerland in 2016. The 35-mile long tunnel provides a faster link between northern and southern Europe. The line, which runs under the Swiss Alps is pictured here; it seems never ending.
#3 - The Palmerston North-Gisborne Railway Line
Talk about dangerous! This bizarre railway in New Zealand has a train track running right through an aircraft runway! Just look at the close proximity in these pictures. The Gisborne Airport is rather small, only having three grass runways, one main, paved runway, a single terminal and only two tarmac gates. One of the most interesting facts that surrounds this strange railway is that when a train gets close to the runway, they must stop and gain clearance from air traffic control before they can cross and continue down the line.

The Estacion de Atocha is the largest railway system in Madrid. What’s spectacular or bizarre in this railway system isn’t the train itself, but rather, the train station. In 1992, the station decided to bring part of the jungle inside to keep the people waiting for the next train entertained. The 4,000 square meter jungle boasts over 500 species of plants and animals. That’s enough things to keep you occupied for however long your wait is.

The Hanoi Railway is a vital part of transportation within the Vietnam city of Hanoi. The station is the central starting point of the five railway lines that lead to almost every province in Vietnam. The bizarre part about this railway system is the track location in relation to the city’s residents. You can tell from this picture that this locomotive has quite a tight squeeze. Here you can see how close the tracks are to businesses and markets around the provinces. Some pop-up shops have to be dismantled when the train is approaching to let it pass.

In an unexplained series of events, the silver Mazda Speed was spotted with its rear end sitting on top of the roof and bonnet of a white Volkswagen Golf. And to make matters worse, a large sign saying "parking out of bays is an offence" toppled over next to the cars at Kirkcaldy railway station in Fife.

Every crime ignites a feeling, 'It should not have happened'.Would knowing the 'Why' behind a crime, help in stopping a crime from happening?'I don’t like the way he looks at me', 'I don’t like the way he/she is behaving', 'I think he/she is out of his/her mind', 'I think he/she has gone crazy'. That gaze, that quirky smile, that persistent stare which unnerves. It is difficult to understand the intentions but the hints are there.In a house a husband and wife argue, fight. A vessel comes flying, a glass breaks. Husband is angry and the wife is upset. That hatred, that ego. The distance that keeps growing. It is difficult to comprehend the damage, but the cracks are there.Feelings… expressions. Misunderstood, unresolved callings of the heart. The cracks are there. Too wide to be missed. Yet when the heart takes over the mind, the outcome is a mindless tragedy.Crime Patrol- Dastak will attempt to look at the signs, the signals that are always there before these mindless crimes are committed. The Railway Children is a children's book by Edith Nesbit, originally serialised in The London Magazine during 1905 and first published in book form in 1906. It has been adapted for the screen several times, of which the 1970 film version is the best known. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography credits Oswald Barron, who had a deep affection for Nesbit, with having provided the plot.

PLOT SUMMARY
The story concerns a family who move to "Three Chimneys", a house near the railway, after the father, who works at the Foreign office, is imprisoned as a result of being falsely accused of selling state secrets to the Russians. The three children, Roberta (Bobbie), Peter and Phyllis (Phil), find amusement in watching the trains on the nearby railway line and waving to the passengers. They become friendly with Albert Perks, the station porter, and with the Old Gentleman who regularly takes the 9:15 down train. He is eventually able to help prove their father's innocence, and the family is reunited. The family take care of the Russian exile, Mr Szczepansky, who came to England looking for his family (later located) and Jim, the grandson of the Old Gentleman, who suffers a broken leg in a tunnel.
The theme of an innocent man being falsely imprisoned for espionage and finally vindicated might have been influenced by the Dreyfus Affair, which was a prominent worldwide news item a few years before the book was written. It has been adapted for the screen several times, of which the 1970 film version is the best known. The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography credits Oswald Barron, who had a deep affection for Nesbit, with having provided the plot.

PLOT SUMMARY
The story concerns a family who move to "Three Chimneys", a house near the railway, after the father, who works at the Foreign office, is imprisoned as a result of being falsely accused of selling state secrets to the Russians. The three children, Roberta (Bobbie), Peter and Phyllis (Phil), find amusement in watching the trains on the nearby railway line and waving to the passengers. They become friendly with Albert Perks, the station porter, and with the Old Gentleman who regularly takes the 9:15 down train. He is eventually able to help prove their father's innocence, and the family is reunited. The family take care of the Russian exile, Mr Szczepansky, who came to England looking for his family (later located) and Jim, the grandson of the Old Gentleman, who suffers a broken leg in a tunnel.
The theme of an innocent man being falsely imprisoned for espionage and finally vindicated might have been influenced by the Dreyfus Affair, which was a prominent worldwide news item a few years before the book was written. One objective is to set up a base within area 3 of the railway land in Radstock, areas 1 and 2 destined for redevelopment. We aim to reinstate a passenger service along the route, as well as keeping the current cycle-path running alongside. A new station and signal box is due to built here, with the hope if permitted to see the engine shed redeveloped to accommodate a family restaurant, railway museum and a section reserved for storing and maintaining rolling stock. A secure cycle shed on-site will allow passing cyclists to stop for snacks and refreshments

The setting is thought to be inspired by Edith's walks to Chelsfield railway station close to where she lived, and her observance of the construction of the railway cutting and tunnel between Chelsfield and Knockholt.[1]

The story has been adapted for the screen six times to date, including four television series, a feature film, and a made-for-television film.
BBC radio dramatisation[edit]
It was adapted for radio by Marcy Kahan and produced by John Taylor. It stars Paul Copley, Timothy Bateson and Victoria Carling and was first heard in 1991. The play is available on CD.
BBC television series[edit]
The story has been adapted as a television series four times by the BBC. The first of these, in 1951, was in 8 episodes of 30 minutes each. A second adaptation was then produced, which re-used some of the film from the original series but also contained new material with slight cast changes. This had 4 episodes of 60 minutes each. The supporting/background orchestral music used in these early programs was the very lyrical second Dance from the Symphonic Dances by Edvard Grieg.
The BBC again revisited the story with an 8-episode series in 1957 and a 7-episode series in 1968. The 1968 adaptation was placed 96th in the BFI's 100 Greatest British Television Programmes poll of 2000. It starred Jenny Agutter as Roberta and Gillian Bailey as Phyllis. Of all the TV adaptations, only the 1968 version is known to be extant (it is currently available on DVD); the rest may be lost.
Film[edit]

After the successful BBC dramatisation of 1968, the film rights were bought by the actor Lionel Jeffries, who wrote and directed the film, released in 1970. Jenny Agutter and Dinah Sheridan starred in the film. The music was composed, arranged and conducted by Johnny Douglas.
2000 version[edit]
Main article: The Railway Children (TV film)
In October 1999, ITV made a new adaptation, as a made-for-television film. This time Jenny Agutter played the role of the mother. Others in the movie include Jemima Rooper, Jack Blumenau and JJ Feild. The railway filmed was the Bluebell Railway using some of the Railway's steam engines and rolling stock and NBR C Class 0-6-0 "Maude", from the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway.
