Neil Dudgeon

Neil Dudgeon (born 2 January 1961) is an English actor who, from 2011, has played DCI John Barnaby in the ITV drama series Midsomer Murders. He replaced the retired John Nettles in the lead role.

Early life and education

Dudgeon was born and raised in Doncaster. He attended Intake Secondary Modern school, among others. He acted in school plays and went on to study drama at the University of Bristol (1979–82).

Career

Dudgeon made his first screen appearance in 1987. The following year he appeared as a Second World War pilot in Piece of Cake, alongside Tim Woodward, Jeremy Northam and Nathaniel Parker.

As well as occasional appearances in series such as Casualty, London's Burning and Lovejoy, he appeared in 1994 as Detective Constable Costello, a one-episode subordinate to Detective Inspector William Edward "Jack" Frost (played by David Jason), in the TV series A Touch of Frost, in 1998-99 as George the Chauffeur in The Mrs Bradley Mysteries (alongside Dame Diana Rigg), in Inspector Morse (episode " The Way Through The Woods"), Between The Lines, Common As Muck (in 1994 & 1997), Out of the Blue, Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking, The Street and all four series of Messiah with Ken Stott.

Tom Burlinson

Tom Burlinson (born 14 February 1956 in Toronto, Ontario) is an Australian actor, singer, and TV host.

Biography

Tom Burlinson was born in Toronto, Ontario on 14 February 1956 (St Valentine's Day). His English parents, Anthony T. Burlinson (born 1923, in Greenwich, Middlesex) and Angela Schofield (born 1927, in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk), had migrated to Canada after World War II. The family moved to New Jersey, United States in 1958. In 1962 the family moved to England due to his father's job and a young Burlinson took his North American accent to school. In 1965, his family moved again, this time to Australia. After six months his parents divorced and his mother and two younger sisters returned to England leaving Burlinson with his father and his older sister, Susan.

Burlinson's first public appearance as an actor was as Colonel Pickering in Mosman Primary School's production of My Fair Lady. Moving to Bayview, he attended Pittwater High School on Sydney's Northern Beaches and was the school captain in his final year.

Cake

Cake is a form of sweet dessert that is typically baked. In its oldest forms, cakes were modifications of breads but now cover a wide range of preparations that can be simple or elaborate and share features with other desserts such as pastries, meringues, custards and pies.

Typical cake ingredients are flour, sugar, eggs, butter or oil, a liquid, and leavening agents, such as baking soda and/or baking powder. Common additional ingredients and flavourings include dried, candied or fresh fruit, nuts, cocoa, and extracts such as vanilla, with numerous substitutions for the primary ingredients. Cakes can also be filled with fruit preserves or dessert sauces (like pastry cream), iced with buttercream or other icings, and decorated with marzipan, piped borders, or candied fruit.

Cake is often served as a celebratory dish on ceremonial occasions, for example weddings, anniversaries, and birthdays. There are countless cake recipes; some are bread-like, some rich and elaborate, and many are centuries old. Cake making is no longer a complicated procedure; while at one time considerable labor went into cake making (particularly the whisking of egg foams), baking equipment and directions have been simplified so that even the most amateur cook may bake a cake.
