In this lecture from my Spring 2013 Introduction to Philosophy class at Marist College, we begin to study Plato's classic dialogue, the Meno. I discuss the main characters of the dialogue, and we look at some of the key features of Socrates' method. Then we think a bit about what "virtue" means -- and we look at Meno's attempt to provide an adequate definition of "virtue," then why those proposed definitions fail.

A conversation based on Plato's famous "Meno" dialogue. Socrates and Meno delay a game of golf to discuss the origins of virtue, knowledge, and the soul! (And, apparently, Thessalians speak with Australian accents!)
As usual, the book is better than the film. Two characters, Anytus and the uneducated slave of Meno, are not included. The book's conversation between Socrates and the uneducated slave is replaced by a commentary on that conversation.
With compliments to the Hackett translation, which I have read several times, and to the public-domain Jowett translation, which I consulted during the making of this film and from which I borrowed a few phrases.

Salut tout le monde, pour le tutoriel deux choses à savoir , le MENO tape feu/eau/air, donc pour les stuffs , prévoyez un mode 45 % air/feu/eau , et surtout 6500 de vitalité+dokoko minimum car le MENO a 90'000 pdv et réduit les dommages de 80% , donc pour taper faut tenir le maximum de tours possibles sachant qu'on gagne 200 puissances par tour , une fois tout ça , le combat se lance, vous lancez attirance sur le MENO , arakné détour et aller dans le coin,et donc full roxx puis n'hésitez pas à lancer dérobade/châtiment vitalesque pour survivre au début,, à la fin éviter de lancer les châtiments élémentaires à cause de l'érosion , si vous avez des questions n'hésitez pas Merci de laisser un like si vous avez aimé, et abonnez vous pour encore plus de vidéos !

Meno (Ancient Greek: Μένων) is a Socratic dialogue written by Plato. It attempts to determine the definition of virtue, or arete, meaning virtue in general, rather than particular virtues, such as justice or temperance. The first part of the work is written in the Socratic dialectical style and Meno is reduced to confusion or aporia. In response to Meno's paradox (or the learner's paradox), however, Socrates introduces positive ideas: the immortality of the soul, the theory of knowledge as recollection (anamnesis), which Socrates demonstrates by posing a mathematical puzzle to one of Meno's slaves, the method of hypothesis, and, in the final lines, the distinction between knowledge and true belief.
Plato's Meno is a Socratic dialogue in which the two main speakers, Socrates and Meno (also transliterated as Menon), discuss human virtue: whether or not it can be taught, and what it is. Additional participants in the dialogue include one of Meno's slaves and the Athenian politician Anytus, a prosecutor of Socrates with whom Meno is friendly.

Plot: Released after a five-year stretch for a crime he did not commit, Trusty knows he must change his ways. Trusty lives by the unwritten code of the streets. Upon his return to the place where his journey began, he is faced with alternative opportunities to escape the cycle of violence and decay or to redeem himself before his friends and resume the lifestyle that put him away in the first place. Bound to the neighborhood for which he stands and a group of remorseless delinquents, each with their own obscure motives, he must once again navigate the dangerous terrain that led him to a conviction and sentence meant for another. With unjust jail time under his belt, he has earned honor and respect in the local hierarchy. On the streets where he was raised, his homeboys compete for position and power. Their lives are punctuated by dysfunctional drug and alcohol abuse, emptiness and misplaced aggression. But, the sudden presence of a girl and Trusty's homecoming coincide for an unexpected chain of irrevocable events that take place on one afternoon. The ensuing circumstances forces six friends into choices and actions that underscore a reality seldom seen. Reunited with Lucky, the younger brother of the friend for whom he went to prison, Trusty must take sides in a conflict pitting homeboy against homeboy in a race to rescue a young woman trapped in a sea of unhealthy lust and web of violence.

Salut tout le monde, pour le tutoriel deux choses à savoir , le MENO tape feu/eau/air, donc pour les stuffs , prévoyez un mode 45 % air/feu/eau , et surtout 6500 de vitalité+dokoko minimum car le MENO a 90'000 pdv et réduit les dommages de 80% , donc pour taper faut tenir le maximum de tours possibles sachant qu'on gagne 200 puissances par tour , une fois tout ça , le combat se lance, vous lancez attirance sur le MENO , arakné détour et aller dans le coin,et donc full roxx puis n'hésitez pas à lancer dérobade/châtiment vitalesque pour survivre au début,, à la fin éviter de lancer les châtiments élémentaires à cause de l'érosion , si vous avez des questions n'hésitez pas Merci de laisser un like si vous avez aimé, et abonnez vous pour encore plus de vidéos ! -

In this lecture from my Spring 2013 Introduction to Philosophy class at Marist College, we begin to study Plato's classic dialogue, the Meno. I discuss the main characters of the dialogue, and we look at some of the key features of Socrates' method. Then we think a bit about what "virtue" means -- and we look at Meno's attempt to provide an adequate definition of "virtue," then why those proposed definitions fail.

A conversation based on Plato's famous "Meno" dialogue. Socrates and Meno delay a game of golf to discuss the origins of virtue, knowledge, and the soul! (And, apparently, Thessalians speak with Australian accents!)
As usual, the book is better than the film. Two characters, Anytus and the uneducated slave of Meno, are not included. The book's conversation between Socrates and the uneducated slave is replaced by a commentary on that conversation.
With compliments to the Hackett translation, which I have read several times, and to the public-domain Jowett translation, which I consulted during the making of this film and from which I borrowed a few phrases.

Llegó de la fiesta muy frustrado pues nada cayó
el sol quiere salir me le adelanto para ir a dormir
inanición me invita a ver que encuentro en el comedor
abro yo la puerta y veo una nena en mi refrigerador oh.
