In the winter of 2013 My 13yr old son had a virus, and of course I got it too! Fever, Chills, Nausea, you name it! We had it.. He got better, I did not. I kept going downhill, and finally went to the ER. I was dripping sweat, and had a fever, but the ER doc said it was just a winter flu/virus and sent me home. About 3am I called my oldest son and told him I honestly felt I was dying, and he came and took me back to the ER. As soon as this new doctor saw me, he said he was admitting me right then and there. I was sweating like it was raining! And the fever and chills were constant. They did all types of tests, and finally a CT scan of my abdominal area. Then came the bad news... The doctors came in and told me that i had a huge mass in my liver! It was almost as big as my liver, and they said it did not look good. Ok, cancer... I was so sick, I honestly did not even care! My temp was 103 and I was delusional and the chills were devastating! They kept icing me up, and all I wanted to do was to be covered in piles of blankets! A few days later, I still had a fever, and they were still running tests... They could not get the fever down. More tests... Finally they changed their diagnosis to a Liver Abscess. My liver was actually full of Puss from an infection. "Sepsis" My first bought of many with Sepsis. So, after 11 days in the hospital, they started me on an antibiotic and put a drain in my liver. The Drain was a scene from HELL!! It was like being stabbed and you could not help yourself. They did not put me out, they did not prepare me for what was about to happen! I had some serious PTSD after they did the drain... I could not stop replaying in my brain and dreaming about it. One of my worse medical terrors ever! I will never ever allow them to do that to me again, unless I am out cold. It was like well.. it was terrible! 15 days later, I got to go home again! Me and my drain! It took me almost a year to get back on my feet from this bought with Sepsis. As just when I started to get better, I got a sepsis infection again. It was later found out that it was from a reconstructive surgery that I had when I was a teen. My pancreas had digested my common bile duct, so they had to sew the stump into my intestines. Now all these years later this is allowing crap to leak into my gut sac. Your liver is your clean up crew, and when your average person gets a tiny leak the liver cleans it right up, and you never even knew what was happening inside of you. You all have leaks... You just have no clue because you body takes care of it. **In my case, the leak is to much for my liver to take care of, and the infection overwhelms my body and I go septic. Occasionally I get Encephalitis when the infection gets into my blood and hits my brain. I have lost some memories, and continue to lose little bits and pieces of my memories. Mostly everyday words that just do not come to me anymore. I end up explaining exactly what the word means in order to describe what I am trying to say.
