The University of Chicago (U of C, Chicago, or UChicago) is a private research university in Chicago. The university, established in 1890, consists of The College, various graduate programs, interdisciplinary committees organized into four academic research divisions and seven professional schools. Beyond the arts and sciences, Chicago is also well known for its professional schools, which include the Pritzker School of Medicine, the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, the Law School, the School of Social Service Administration, the Harris School of Public Policy Studies, the Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies and the Divinity School. 0:44 Even though UChicago as a school has unity & solidarity, but individual communities within UChicago is quite isolated and I find it difficult to break out of your bubble/circle
3:36 Grade deflation is not a thing anymore — BUT some classes in specific departments are quite heavily curved and that’s just kind of sad
5:16 Core classes (with the same course number) often vary vastly in difficulty, and students have little way of knowing this until they experience the different sections & have to struggle to drop / switch sections or just struggle
6:54 There are basically two (ish) extremes of what a “successful” student looks like at UChicago and I don’t like either :(
10:24 “Dismissive” listening at UChicago & how students often feel the need to justify with workload and busy schedules why they’re feeling a certain way

15:35 Playing “devil’s advocate” and how that is sometimes used as a substitute for people discussing the implications & impact of situations as well as their own opinions — there’s a time and place for every conversation, and some need to be had without positing new perspectives you personally might not believe in
