Major

Major is a military rank of commissioned officer, with corresponding ranks existing in many military forces. When used unhyphenated, in conjunction with no other indicators, the rank is just senior to that of an army captain and right below the rank of lieutenant colonel. It is considered the most junior of the field officer ranks.

Majors are typically assigned as specialized executive or operations officers for battalion-sized units of 300 to 1,200 soldiers. In some militaries, notably France and Ireland, the rank of major is referred to as commandant, while in others it is known as captain-major. It is also used in some police forces and other paramilitary rank structures, such as the New York State Police, New Jersey State Police and several others. As a police rank, Major roughly corresponds to the UK rank of Superintendent.

When used in hyphenated or combined fashion, the term can also imply seniority at other levels of rank, including general-major or major general, denoting a mid-level general officer, and sergeant major, denoting the most senior NCO of a military unit. The term Major can also be used with a hyphen to denote the leader of a military band such as in pipe-major or drum-major.

Ain't Nobody

"Ain't Nobody" is a song recorded by the American band Rufus and Chaka Khan. It was released on November 4, 1983, as a bonus track for their live album Stompin' at the Savoy. "Ain't Nobody" quickly gathered popularity, and reached number one on the U.S. R&B chart, and number twenty-two on the US Billboard Hot 100. It has become one of Khan's signature songs.

Rufus keyboardist David "Hawk" Wolinski wrote the song around a repeating synthesizer loop backed by a Linn LM-1 drum computer. However, drummer John J. R. Robinson played real drums for the recording session. The band did a democratic vote and they decided to include the song in their album repertoire. Once the song was recorded, Warner executives wanted to issue another song as the album's first single. Wolinski threatened to give the song to Michael Jackson and producer Quincy Jones for Thriller if the song was not the lead-off single. The label relented and "Ain't Nobody" was issued and hit number 1 on the R&B chart for the week ending October 15, 1983.

Felix Jaehn

Felix Jaehn (Germanised as Felix Jähn) (born 28 August 1994) is a German music producer and DJ specialising in tropical house. Jaehn was born in Hamburg and raised in Schönberg, near Wismar in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. He took violin lessons at age of 5 and began his DJ career at 16. Jaehn lived in London for a year, where he attended a Point Blank Music College at the age of 17. Afterwards he briefly studied Business Administration at Humboldt-University in Berlin.

2013–present: Breakthrough

In August 2013 he released his debut single "Sommer am Meer". He came to prominence in 2015 through his remix of Jamaican artist OMI's song "Cheerleader". The single was an international hit for him topping the charts in Germany, Austria, Belgium (Flanders and Wallonia), Canada, Denmark, France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. It was also a very popular wedding dance song in the United States. In November 2014 he released the single "Shine". In March 2015 he released the single "Dance with Me". In April 2015, he released a remix of Rufus and Chaka Khan classic "Ain't Nobody" retitled "Ain't Nobody (Loves Me Better)" featuring the vocals of Jasmine Thompson (based on an earlier charting version of the song by Thompson). The remix was an international pan-European hit topping the German Singles Chart. He is now signed to Universal Music. In July 2015 he released the single "Eagle Eyes".

Jasmine Thompson

Jasmine Ying Thompson (born 8 November 2000), better known professionally as simply Jasmine Thompson, is an English singer and songwriter. Starting out releasing covers of songs in 2010, she achieved wider recognition after featuring on German deep house producer Robin Schulz's song "Sun Goes Down". This track charted within the top 10 in multiple countries including Australia, Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As of 2015, her YouTube channel has over 1.9 million subscribers and over 220 million views.

Her acoustic cover of Chaka Khan's "Ain't Nobody" reached number 32 on the UK Singles Chart after being featured in an advertisement by Sainsbury's. The cover from Thompson was remixed by DJ Felix Jaehn in 2015, and became a huge hit, peaking at number 2 in the UK, and charting in several other countries. The video has received over 100 million views online. Her voice has been described as "eerie". She is of half English and half Chinese ethnicity.
