A Conversation with Martin Baker - Republican Congressional Candidate (MO-1) 7-15-14
Since the
2010 U.S. Census, the state of
Missouri has eight
Congressional districts. Of those eight, six are held by
Republicans and two are held by
Democrats;
Emanuel Cleaver, representing the
Kansas City area and
Lacy Clay, representing
St. Louis City and much of
North St. Louis County. Mr.
Clay is a 2014 candidate for re-election, seeking his eighth term of office. Our guest today,
Martin Baker, wants Mr. Clay's job. But first Mr.
Baker must successfully get through a three-way
August 5th Republican Party Primary. After that, he expects to win the
November 4th general election. Martin Baker was born and raised in
Sikeston, Missouri. His interest in a political path began during his studies at
University of Missouri, Columbia. He majored in
Political Science and
Criminal Justice. He was elected a student senator. By
2007 Mr.
Martin was selected as the Missouri Delegate for the
National Black Republican Association. Now he is a candidate for the
U.S. House of
Representative.
