Dude, where's my Maserati? Embarrassing bungle at Crown Perth valet

We've all done it before...accidentally picking up someone's pen by mistake, or stubby of beer.

But how about driving off in someone else's car... in this instance, a luxury Maserati no less.

This is what happened at leading luxury hotel Crown Perth, which has reportedly suffered some major logistical issues with its valet car parking service of late.

A number of high-profile people around town have had the keys to their expensive cars - the Maserati in question and also a Rolls Royce - handed to people that weren't the owners, or without the owner's permission, a caller to 6PR Breakfast's 'rumour file' said.

Wait, the City of Perth has a Maserati?

In one case about a month ago, a Maserati was driven away ... until the driver returned it a short time later after realising it belonged to someone else.

Crown Perth confirmed the incident to WAtoday but put the brakes on releasing any further details about the bungle, such as who the luxury cars belonged to and how it happened.

It's not the first time the high-end supercar has hit headlines in Perth

Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi's husband recently parked his Maserati illegally outside a Perth hospital recently, while in February a black Maserati with council number plates was snapped being driven around Perth.

Further afield, a $250,000 Lamboghini was spotted in western Sydney ... towing a trailer full of goats, back in July.
