Gefitinib (INN,  /ɡɛˈfɪtɨnɪb/, trade name Iressa, marketed by AstraZeneca and Teva), is a drug used for certain breast, lung and other cancers. Gefitinib is an EGFR inhibitor, like erlotinib, which interrupts signaling through the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) in target cells. Therefore, it is only effective in cancers with mutated and overactive EGFR.

Gefitinib is the first selective inhibitor of epidermal growth factor receptor's (EGFR) tyrosine kinase domain. Thus gefitinib is an EGFR inhibitor. The target protein (EGFR) is a family of receptors which includes Her1(erb-B1), Her2(erb-B2), and Her 3(erb-B3). EGFR is overexpressed in the cells of certain types of human carcinomas - for example in lung and breast cancers. This leads to inappropriate activation of the anti-apoptotic Ras signalling cascade, eventually leading to uncontrolled cell proliferation. Research on gefitinib-sensitive non-small cell lung cancers has shown that a mutation in the EGFR tyrosine kinase domain is responsible for activating anti-apoptotic pathways. These mutations tend to confer increased sensitivity to tyrosine kinase inhibitors such as gefitinib and erlotinib. Of the types of non-small cell lung cancer histologies, adenocarcinoma is the type that most often harbors these mutations. These mutations are more commonly seen in Asians, women, and non-smokers (who also tend to more often have adenocarcinoma).

Andrew Hugh Walsh AM is an Australian festival director. He has directed numerous ceremonies and public events.

He was educated at Caulfield Grammar School in Melbourne. Among his career highlights, Walsh was employed by Jack Morton Worldwide as Executive Producer of the ceremonies of the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Jack Morton also employed him to Executive Producer the ceremonies of the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He also Directed the 2003 Rugby World Cup Opening Ceremony.

On 12 June 2006, in the Queen's Birthday honours list, Walsh was made a Member of the Order of Australia "for service to the events management industry through the creative direction and production of major outdoor performances and public celebrations in Australia and internationally, and to education."

Jero Wacik (born April 24, 1949) is an Indonesian politician from Singaraja, Bali. He has served as Minister of Culture and Tourism since October 21, 2004 and is currently serving his second term in this position this October 2009. He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Bandung Institute of Technology in 1974 and the University of Indonesia in 1983.
