Comedy Central

Comedy Central is an American basic cable and satellite television channel that is owned by Viacom Music and Entertainment Group, a unit of the Viacom Media Networks division of Viacom. Aimed limitedly to mature audience, age 18 to up, the channel carries comedy programming, in the form of both original and syndicated series and stand-up comedy specials, as well as feature films.

Since late 2006, Comedy Central has expanded globally with localized channels in India, Germany, Czech Republic Hungary, Israel, Italy, Latin America, New Zealand, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Denmark, Republic of Ireland, United Kingdom, Brazil,Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Belgium, Croatia, Romania, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia and South Africa. The international channels are operated by Viacom International Media Networks.

As of February 2015, approximately 93,992,000 American households (80.70% of households with television) receive Comedy Central.

Sweden (ⁱ/ˈswiːdən/ SWEE-dən; Swedish: Sverige [ˈsvæːrjə]  listen ), officially the Kingdom of Sweden (Swedish:  Konungariket Sverige ), is a Scandinavian country in Northern Europe. It borders Norway to the west and Finland to the east, and is connected to Denmark in the southwest by a bridge-tunnel across the Öresund. At 450,295 square kilometres (173,860 sq mi), Sweden is the third-largest country in the European Union by area, with a total population of over 9.8 million. Sweden consequently has a low population density of 21 inhabitants per square kilometre (54/sq mi), with the highest concentration in the southern half of the country. Germanic peoples have inhabited Sweden since prehistoric times, emerging into history as the Geats/Götar and Swedes/Svear and constituting the sea peoples known as the Norsemen. Sweden emerged as an independent and unified country during the Middle Ages. In the 17th century, it expanded its territories to form the Swedish Empire, which became one of the great powers of Europe until the early 18th century. Swedish territories outside the Scandinavian Peninsula were gradually lost during the 18th and 19th centuries, beginning with the annexation of present-day Finland by Russia in 1809. The last war in which Sweden was directly involved was in 1814, when Norway was militarily forced into personal union.

The Daily Show

The Daily Show (also known as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart from 1999 until 2015, and The Daily Show with Trevor Noah as of 2015) is an American late-night talk and news satire television program, which airs each Monday through Thursday on Comedy Central and, in Canada, The Comedy Network.

The half-hour-long show premiered on July 21, 1996, and was hosted by Craig Kilborn until December 17, 1998. Jon Stewart then took over as the host from January 11, 1999 until August 6, 2015, making the show more strongly focused on politics and the national media, in contrast with the pop culture focus during Kilborn's tenure. Stewart was succeeded by Trevor Noah, whose tenure premiered on September 28, 2015. The Daily Show is the longest-running program on Comedy Central (counting all three tenures), and has won 22 Primetime Emmy Awards.

Describing itself as a fake news program, The Daily Show draws its comedy and satire from recent news stories, political figures, media organizations, and often aspects of the show itself. During Stewart's tenure, the show typically opened with a long monologue, relating to recent headlines and frequently featured exchanges with one or more of several correspondents, who adopted absurd or humorously exaggerated takes on current events against Stewart's straight man persona. The final segment was devoted to a celebrity interview, with guests ranging from actors and musicians to nonfiction authors and political figures.

Comedy Central (Swedish: Comedy Central Sverige) in Sweden is a television channel owned by MTV Networks Europe, broadcasting to Sweden. MTV Networks have said that the channel will feature both original Swedish productions made for the channel and imported content.

The channel applied for license to broadcast in the terrestrial network in Sweden in February 2008 and on 27 March 2008 they were granted a license to broadcast nationally between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. from 1 January 2009.

The channel launched on 1 January 2009, opening with an episode of South Park and the Comedy Central Roast of Pamela Anderson. During its first month, the channel launched on Boxer, Canal Digital, Com Hem, Tele2, Telia Digital-tv, SPA, Borderlight and IP Sweden. The channel was added to the Viasat platform on 1 September 2009.

On 5 October 2010, The Daily Show premiered on Comedy Central in Sweden, having previously been broadcast on Canal+ and Kanal 9. The show is broadcast at 7 p.m. Swedish time, only 14 hours after its original U.S. broadcast, and then repeated at 11.05 p.m. This is unusually fast as American talk shows are normally shown with a one-week delay in Sweden.
