Peter the Great (Russian: Пётр Вели́кий, tr. Pyotr Velikiy; IPA: [ˈpʲɵtr vʲɪˈlʲikʲɪj]), Peter I (Russian: Пётр I, tr. Pyotr I; IPA: [ˈpʲɵtr ˈpʲɛrvɨj]) or Peter Alexeyevich (Russian: Пётр Алексе́евич; IPA: [ˈpʲɵtr ɐlʲɪˈksʲejɪvʲɪtɕ]; 9 June [O.S. 30 May] 1672 – 8 February [O.S. 28 January] 1725) ruled the Tsardom of Russia and later the Russian Empire from 7 May (O.S. 27 April) 1682 until his death, jointly ruling before 1696 with his elder half-brother, Ivan V. Through a number of successful wars he expanded the Tsardom into a much larger empire that became a major European power. He led a cultural revolution that replaced some of the traditionalist and medieval social and political systems with ones that were modern, scientific, westernized, and based on The Enlightenment. Peter's reforms made a lasting impact on Russia and many institutions of Russian government traced their origins to his reign.
The imperial title of Peter the Great was the following:

http://www.tomrichey.net Peter the Great ruled Russia at the turn of the eighteenth century and launched several reforms to transform Russia into a modern absolutist state on the European model. As tsar, Peter reformed the military, the calendar, the Russian Orthodox Church, and the civil service system (Table of Ranks). Most of Peter's reforms were targeted toward his two main goals: Westernization and Warm Water Ports. Peter, who spent several months building ships in Amsterdam while on his "European Tour," is known as the "Father of the Russian Navy." Lucy Worsley's Empire of the Tsars Episode 1of 3 1. Reinventing Russia Lucy looks at the beginning of the Romanovs' reign, from Mikhail to Peter the Great, the tsar determined to modernise Russia at the end of the 17th century.
A humorous summary of the rule of Peter the Great of Russia. Everything SAID in this video is factual. The images are there for your enjoyment. At one point I say 1945. It's supposed to be 1745. Oops.
European Civilization, 1648-1945 (HIST 202) Peter the Great's historical significance stems not only from his military ambitions and the great expansion of the Russian Empire under his supervision, but also from his efforts to introduce secular, Western customs and ideas into Russian culture. Despite his notorious personal brutality, Peter's enthusiasm for science and modern intellectual concerns made an indelible mark both on Russia's relationship to the West and on its internal politics. The struggle under Peter's reign between Westernizers and Slavophiles, or those who resist foreign influences, can be seen at work in Russia up to the present day. 00:00 - Chapter 1. "this book about Czar Peter Iii. is long overdue. Lucky for us the author Elena Palmer has taken this issue seriously with a critical approach and precise attention to detail. It is very gratifying to know that finally, after more than 250 years, somebody wrote down this Russian rulers story in a balanced, fair and respectful form. After all it was his reign that transformed the dynasty of the Romanovs into the dynasty Romanov/holstein-gottorp, which has since been forever documented in the Imperial family crest.previous ...

Listen to the full audiobook, or read it's ebook version: http://appgame.space/mabk/30/en/B003370J5I/book Imperial Boundaries is a study of imperial expansion and local transformation on Russia's Don Steppe frontier during the age of Peter the Great. Brian Boeck connects the rivalry of the Russian and Ottoman empires in the northern Black Sea basin to the social history of the Don Cossacks, who were transformed from an open, democratic, multiethnic, male fraternity dedicated to frontier raiding into a closed, ethnic community devoted to defending and advancing the boundaries of the Russian state. He shows how by promoting border patrol, migration control, bureaucratic regulation of cross-border contacts and deportation of dissidents, Peter I destroyed the world of the old steppe and create...
