The City Campus is one of the University of Copenhagen's four campuses in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is home to the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Faculty of Law, the Faculty of Theology, the university's central administration, and parts of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences and the Faculty of Science. The main campus area, the Center for Health and Society (Danish: Center for Sundhed og Samfund, abbr. CSS), is situated on Øster Farimagsgade, across the street from the University's Botanical Garden, which is also part of the campus area. The City Campus also comprises a building on Øster Voldgade (Mo. 10) and the university headquarters on Frue Plads.
In all, the City Campus occupies five sites:
A campus is traditionally the land on which a college or university and related institutional buildings are situated. A modern campus is a collection of buildings that belong to a given institution, either academic or non-academic. Usually a campus includes libraries, lecture halls, residence halls, student centers or dining halls, and park-like settings.
The word derives from a Latin word for "field" and was first used to describe the grounds of the College of New Jersey (now Princeton University) in 1774. Some other American colleges later adopted the word to describe individual fields at their own institutions, but "campus" did not yet describe the whole university property. A school might have one space called a campus, one called a field, and another called a yard.
The tradition of a campus began with the medieval European universities where the students and teachers lived and worked together in a cloistered environment. The notion of the importance of the setting to academic life later migrated to America, and early colonial educational institutions were based on the Scottish and English collegiate system.
A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.
Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process, but it also presents challenges to managing urban growth.
A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers for employment. Once a city expands far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis. In terms of population, the largest city proper is Shanghai, while the fastest-growing is Dubai.
There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

Footage was shot on University of Copenhagen's KUA campus as well as in and around central Copenhagen. We created this video as part of an initiative launched by the Copenhagen Youth Goodwill Ambassador Corps, of which I am a member.

This is a guide of how to get from Copenhagen airport to Malmö University. It was made by Jason, John, Richard, Öyku and Michelle - who are all exchange students at Malmö. Many of our international students arrive in Denmark first - this will help you find your way to the university. Remember: You absolutely must get a ticket - otherwise you'll have to pay a fine on the train, not a nice welcome to Sweden! The train that you'll get is called an 'Öresundtåg' and is grey. When you leave Denmark you'll travel over the bridge - this takes only a few minutes and then you'll be in Sweden. As the guys say, don't get off at the first stop in Sweden: you need the third stop 'Malmö C'. Here's a link to google maps for the Student Centre (called 'Student Centrum' in Swedish): http://maps.google.com/m...
