En plena debacle de su país, debe hacerse cargo de sus hermanitos, mientras recorre con ellos los restos de un país arruinado y ahora dominado por invasores, por el hambre, el horror y la muerte, hacia la casa de la abuela, 800 km al norte, cerca de Hamburgo. El viaje retrata su aprendizaje y maduración, el despertar de su sexualidad y de su conciencia humana, finalmente de su individualidad y rebeldía.

Director Cate Shortland reveals how her son, video operator Jonathan Shortland-Krawitz, helped to keep her on track when she was facing the challenges of making the German-language film Lore in Europe, the big screen adaptation of Rachel Seiffert's novel "The Dark Room" . The film about the tribulations faced by the young in the aftermath of World War II, is one of 12 films in competition at the Sydney Film Festival. Cate's long awaited follow-up to Somersault was written for the screen by her and Robin Mukherjee and produced by Benny Drechsel, Karsten Stöter, LizWatts and Paul Welsh.

Sinopsis
Alemania, 1945. La guerra ha terminado. Un grupo de niños se proponen atravesar el devastado país para reunirse con su abuela a 900 km al norte. Lore, la mayor, queda a cargo de sus cuatro hermanos cuando sus padres, miembros de las SS, son capturados por las tropas aliadas. Todos juntos emprenderán un viaje que les mostrará la realidad y las consecuencias de las acciones de sus padres. Pero cuando conoce al enigmático y carismático Thomas, un joven refugiado judío, Lore ve cómo su mundo se llena de sentimientos contradictorios. Por un lado queda paralizada por el miedo que siente hacia este joven pero, por otro, debe confiar para sobrevivir, en la persona que, tal y como le han enseñado, es el enemigo.

A cél: átvágni a felégetett és kifosztott Németországon, hogy 900 kilométert megtéve elérjenek a Hamburg mellett élő nagymamájukhoz. Az utazás során lassan feltárul előttük a náci propaganda hamissága, és rá kell döbbenniük, hogy az életüket csak úgy folytathatják, ha szembenéznek szüleik bűneivel.

Eine kleine Prise Glück kann das Leben verändern: Vor der Kulisse der Millionenmetropole Mumbai erzählt das bewegende Feelgood-Movie LUNCHBOX die Geschichte zweier einsamer Seelen, Ila und Saajan, die ein Wink des Schicksals zusammenführt. Durch eine eigentlich höchst unwahrscheinliche Fügung treten sie in das Leben des anderen - und nur durch ihre Worte und die Verführungskraft des Essens kommen sie einander näher. Manchmal liegt das Glück eben nur einen kleinen Zufall entfernt, und jederzeit hält das Leben eine völlig neue Wendung bereit - wenn man ihm nur seinen Lauf lässt. Die Geschichte: Ila (Nimrat Kaur) möchte ihrer Ehe wieder mehr Würze verleihen. Mit ihren Kochkünsten will sie ihren Mann zurück gewinnen, denn die Hausfrau in der indischen Millionenstadt Mumbai fühlt sich seit geraumer Zeit vernachlässigt. Doch die ganz besondere Lunchbox, die sie ihm für die Mittagspause vorbereitet, gerät über die Dabbawallas - Lieferanten, die tagtäglich Tausende von Mumbaier Ehemännern mit den Köstlichkeiten ihrer Frauen beliefern - irrtümlich zu Saajan (Irrfan Khan), einem Büroangestellten, der kurz vor dem Ende seines Berufslebens steht und genau wie sie eine einsame Großstadtseele ist. Als ihr Mann nicht reagiert, legt die verwunderte Ila am folgenden Tag eine Nachricht in die nächste Lunchbox - und erhält eine Antwort von Saajan. Ila wiederum antwortet ihm, und so beginnen sie sich regelmäßig Botschaften zu schicken, in denen sie sich dem anderen immer mehr offenbaren. Die „Dabbawallas": Wie die Tuk Tuk-Fahrer zu Bangkok gehören die Dabbawallas zu Mumbai. Sie betreiben einen einzigartigen Lieferservice für Lunchpakete, die Hausfrauen liebevoll für ihre Männer zubereiten und ihnen an den Arbeitsplatz schicken. Obwohl die rund 5000 Kuriere kaum lesen und schreiben können, liegt die Fehlerquote für eine falsche Zustellung bei 1 zu 6 Millionen, denn ein ausgeklügeltes Codierungssystem aus Farben und Symbolen stellt sicher, dass so gut wie alle Lunchpakete an den richtigen Ort gelangen. Doch genau dieser höchst unwahrscheinliche Fall tritt in LUNCHBOX ein und führt Ila und Saajan zusammen...

Cate Shortland
Cate Shortland is an Australian writer and director of film and television.
Early life
She was born 10 August 1968 in Temora, New South Wales. She graduated from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, where she received the Southern Star Award for most promising student.
Career
She has created several award winning short films: Strap on Olympia (1995); Pentuphouse (1998); Flower Girl (2000); and Joy (2000)
Cate spent three years directing episodes of the Network Ten television series, The Secret Life of Us.
Feature Films
In 2004 she released her debut feature-length film, Somersault (2004), which was entered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival.
Her second feature, Lore, had its Australian premiere at the 2012 Sydney Film Festival. It won at the Locarno International Film Festival in August 2012 the Prix du Public UBS. In November the film won the Bronze Horse for best film at the Stockholm International Film Festival. The film was selected as the Australian entry for the Best Foreign Language Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, but it did not make the final shortlist.

Sasuke (TV series)
Sasuke (stylized in Japan as SASUKE) is a Japanese sports entertainment television special in which 100 competitors attempt to complete a four-stage obstacle course. An edited version, named Ninja Warrior, is screened in at least 18 other countries. To date, Sasuke content has been aired in 157 countries.
Shot on location at Midoriyama studio in Yokohama, it airs on TBS between Japanese television drama seasons. Each 3-hour special covers an entire competition; there are normally 100 participants. There have been 31 specials produced, approximately one new special per season (twice per year). The show is produced by TBS and is one of the spin-offs of Muscle Ranking (筋肉番付, Kinniku Banzuke), another sports entertainment competition, which aired on G4 under the name Unbeatable Banzuke. Until the 10th competition, Sasuke was broadcast as a special part of Muscle Ranking, but it became an independent program when Muscle Ranking was discontinued. The first competition was held indoors, marking the only time Sasuke did not take place outside. Competitions generally start in the daytime and continue until completed regardless of weather or darkness. After Monster9's bankruptcy on November 2011, all rights to the show fell completely into the hands of its broadcaster, Tokyo Broadcasting System. Following their acquisition of all rights to Sasuke, TBS renamed the show Sasuke Rising for the 28th, 29th and 30th editions, but have since reverted to the original Sasuke title.

Robin Mukherjee
Rabinranath "Robin" Mukherjee (12 November 1943 – 14 March 2009) was a cricketer who played first-class cricket for a number of teams in India from 1964 to 1980.
An opening batsman, Mukherjee played his first first-class match in 1964-65 for Railways against Jammu and Kashmir, scoring 90 not out in the second innings before his captain declared. He moved to Bengal, and in 1966-67, on his first appearance for the team, he made 111 against Bihar. In 1967-68, on his first appearance for State Bank of India in the Moin-ud-Dowlah Gold Cup Tournament, he made 183 in 260 minutes, putting on 233 for the third wicket with Hanumant Singh.
He moved to Bihar in 1969. In 1970-71 he made 288 runs at 48.00 in the Ranji Trophy as Bihar progressed to the semi-finals for only the third time. He made 58, the only score of the match over 30, as Bihar beat Assam by an innings, then 53 when Bihar gained a first-innings lead over Bengal to progress to the finals. Against Mysore in the quarter-final he scored 130 to help Bihar to a two-run first-innings lead and a place in the semi-final, which they lost to Punjab. He continued to play regularly for Bihar until 1977-78. Later he served as a selector for Bengal and as chief curator of pitches for East Zone.

Paul Welsh
Paul Welsh is a British television and radio correspondent and presenter. He was born in England in 1961, but moved frequently because his father was a serving member of the RAF. He studied Physics at the University of Nottingham from 1979-82.
Career
Welsh is best known for coverage of conflicts and disasters; particularly the civil wars in Kosovo, Ivory Coast and Liberia, and the famines in Somalia and Sudan. Roles for the BBC included World Affairs Correspondent, West Africa Correspondent, Defence & Security Correspondent, TV Duty Editor, presenter of the World Service programmes Newshour and The World Today, and reporter/presenter on the television programmes Breakfast and Newsround. Welsh has presented BBC programmes on BBC One, BBC Two, BBC News 24, BBC World Service and BBC World TV. Reported for the BBC on all of those and Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 4, BBC Three and BBC Four.
A founding member, and former station manager, of University Radio Nottingham he reported freelance for the city's commercial station Radio Trent. The film about the tribulations faced by the young in the aftermath of World War II, is one of 12 films in competition at the Sydney Film Festival. Cate's long awaited follow-up to Somersault was written for the screen by her and Robin Mukherjee and produced by Benny Drechsel, Karsten Stöter, LizWatts and Paul Welsh.
The 2012 Sydney Film Festival runs from the 6th to 17th of June. Tickets are on sale now at http://www.sff.org.au

Sinopsis
Alemania, 1945. La guerra ha terminado. Un grupo de niños se proponen atravesar el devastado país para reunirse con su abuela a 900 km al norte. Lore, la mayor, queda a cargo de sus cuatro hermanos cuando sus padres, miembros de las SS, son capturados por las tropas aliadas. Todos juntos emprenderán un viaje que les mostrará la realidad y las consecuencias de las acciones de sus padres. Pero cuando conoce al enigmático y carismático Thomas, un joven refugiado judío, Lore ve cómo su mundo se llena de sentimientos contradictorios. Por un lado queda paralizada por el miedo que siente hacia este joven pero, por otro, debe confiar para sobrevivir, en la persona que, tal y como le han enseñado, es el enemigo.

A cél: átvágni a felégetett és kifosztott Németországon, hogy 900 kilométert megtéve elérjenek a Hamburg mellett élő nagymamájukhoz. Eine kleine Prise Glück kann das Leben verändern: Vor der Kulisse der Millionenmetropole Mumbai erzählt das bewegende Feelgood-Movie LUNCHBOX die Geschichte zweier einsamer Seelen, Ila und Saajan, die ein Wink des Schicksals zusammenführt. Durch eine eigentlich höchst unwahrscheinliche Fügung treten sie in das Leben des anderen - und nur durch ihre Worte und die Verführungskraft des Essens kommen sie einander näher. Manchmal liegt das Glück eben nur einen kleinen Zufall entfernt, und jederzeit hält das Leben eine völlig neue Wendung bereit - wenn man ihm nur seinen Lauf lässt. Der Film des jungen indischen Regisseurs Ritesh Batra, in dem u.a. Irrfan Khan (Life of Pi: Schiffbruch mit Tiger; Slumdog Millionär), Nimrat Kaur (Peddlers) und Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Monsoon Shootout) mit ihren schauspielerischen Leistungen begeistern, feierte bei den diesjährigen Filmfestspielen in Cannes in der Semaine de la Critique Weltpremiere und avancierte dort zum Geheimtipp des Festivals.
Die Geschichte: Ila (Nimrat Kaur) möchte ihrer Ehe wieder mehr Würze verleihen. Mit ihren Kochkünsten will sie ihren Mann zurück gewinnen, denn die Hausfrau in der indischen Millionenstadt Mumbai fühlt sich seit geraumer Zeit vernachlässigt. Doch die ganz besondere Lunchbox, die sie ihm für die Mittagspause vorbereitet, gerät über die Dabbawallas - Lieferanten, die tagtäglich Tausende von Mumbaier Ehemännern mit den Köstlichkeiten ihrer Frauen beliefern - irrtümlich zu Saajan (Irrfan Khan), einem Büroangestellten, der kurz vor dem Ende seines Berufslebens steht und genau wie sie eine einsame Großstadtseele ist. Als ihr Mann nicht reagiert, legt die verwunderte Ila am folgenden Tag eine Nachricht in die nächste Lunchbox - und erhält eine Antwort von Saajan. Ila wiederum antwortet ihm, und so beginnen sie sich regelmäßig Botschaften zu schicken, in denen sie sich dem anderen immer mehr offenbaren. Sie gestehen sich ihre Einsamkeit und ihre Ängste, ihre Erinnerungen und ihre kleinen Freuden. Die „Dabbawallas": Wie die Tuk Tuk-Fahrer zu Bangkok gehören die Dabbawallas zu Mumbai. Sie betreiben einen einzigartigen Lieferservice für Lunchpakete, die Hausfrauen liebevoll für ihre Männer zubereiten und ihnen an den Arbeitsplatz schicken. Obwohl die rund 5000 Kuriere kaum lesen und schreiben können, liegt die Fehlerquote für eine falsche Zustellung bei 1 zu 6 Millionen, denn ein ausgeklügeltes Codierungssystem aus Farben und Symbolen stellt sicher, dass so gut wie alle Lunchpakete an den richtigen Ort gelangen. Doch genau dieser höchst unwahrscheinliche Fall tritt in LUNCHBOX ein und führt Ila und Saajan zusammen...

Some of you may remember him as 'Dr Hone Ropata' from 'Shortland Street'; but most of you will remember him from his breakout performance as 'Jake Heke' or 'Jake the Mus' from 'Once Were Warriors'.
It has been 20 years since I first experienced 'Once were Warriors' and it is to this day, still one of the hardest films to watch. The film is set in Auckland; New Zealand. It tells the story of Jake and his family, a man of violence rather than reason, even tho he obviously loves both his wife and his family, but when under the influence of alcohol has the rage and screen presence to make the strongest of men shake in their boots. He is a 'slave to his fists' and the bottle, deep down he is a lost sole needing redemption.
But to meet the man who portrays the character in person is a different story. He is an artist and a gentleman. With a firm but true handshake, he has a life time of wisdom that he is willing to share with anyone with the time to listen. With thanks to The Gold Coast Film Festival and The Gold Coast Supanova, fans had the chance to watch his film today and have a 20 minute Q & A with the man himself. What they got, was true to the man that he is. After a 40 minute discussion of his experience in the industry, from the casting of his role through to the film industry situation in New Zealand, he was a trooper.He answered the most personal of questions relating to the film and his life experiences.
What most people forget is this one thing, they are actors portraying imaginary characters in film. What they are like in real life is completely different to what we experience on screen.

Lore focusses on the children of Nazi Party members who are captured at the end of the Second World War. Sam Worthington was handpicked for AVATAR by James Cameron and made his mark internationally starring opposite Christian Bale earlier this year in "Terminator Salvation".

In 2000, Worthington made his feature film debut with a starring role in the Australian film "Bootmen," in the role of Adam Garcia's brooding older brother. His performance garnered him an Australian Film Institute (AFI) Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role. His subsequent Australian film credits include "Dirty Deeds," with John Goodman, Toni Collette and Sam Neill, for which he earned a Film Critics Circle of Australia (FCCA) Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor; and "Gettin' Square," with David Wenham. He also had a small role in the World War II drama "Hart's War," starring Bruce Willis.
It was his layered performance in Cate Shortland's critically acclaimed and commercially successful 2004 film "Somersault" that brought Worthington international attention. He won an AFI Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role and earned his second FCCA Award nomination. In addition, the film made a clean sweep of the year's AFI Awards, winning in all 13 film categories - a first in the awards' history.
Worthington went on to star in the title role of Geoffrey Wright's 2006 contemporary adaptation of Shakespeare's "Macbeth." He has also been seen in John Dahl's "The Great Raid" and the horror thriller "Rogue."
Worthington's Australian television credits include starring roles in two award-winning projects: "Love My Way," which has won three AFI Awards for Best Television Drama Series; and "The Surgeon", which was nominated for an AFI Award for Best Telefeature or Miniseries. He also starred in the "Delivery Man" episode of "Two Twisted," a "Twilight Zone"-like anthology series produced by Bryan Brown.
Upcoming films that Sam has starring roles in are; the big budget action-adventure fantasy epic "Clash of the Titans," playing the lead role of Perseus under the direction of Louis Leterrier as well as two very different independent features: the romantic drama "Last Night," opposite Keira Knightley and Eva Mendes; and the post-World War II dramatic thriller "The Debt," directed by John Madden and also starring Helen Mirren. (These films have all been filmed and will be released next year).
