The film industry or motion picture industry comprises the technological and commercial institutions of filmmaking, i.e., film production companies, film studios, cinematography, film production, screenwriting, pre-production, post production, film festivals, distribution; and actors, film directors and other film crew personnel.
Though the expense involved in making movies almost immediately led film production to concentrate under the auspices of standing production companies, advances in affordable film making equipment, and expansion of opportunities to acquire investment capital from outside the film industry itself, have allowed independent film production to evolve. Currently, the largest markets by box office are United States, China, and Japan; and the countries with the largest number of film productions are India, Nigeria, and the United States. Other centers include Nepal, Pakistan, Hong Kong and in Europe the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain, and Germany are the countries that lead movie production.
This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. In the future, watching movies might cost you 150 bucks. According to The Independent, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas predicted a meltdown in the movie industry yesterday. For all the hopefuls at the University of California's School of Cinematic Arts where they were speaking, this must have been a blow. Instead of inspiring the film students with promising talk of a career in filmmaking, the two directors instead said this is an "interesting time" for the film industry. I think by interesting, they meant rocky. Spielberg, director of Jaws, E.T., Jurassic Park- basically the man who made childhood awesome-said that Hollywood studios are only interested in investing in blockbusters, movies that will appeal to everyone, and will likely earn a ton of money. This is because people ha...

Get your free copy of this audiobook: http://copydl.space/mabk/30/en/B01LDSUC1E/audiobook What happens when an industry dies? Movies defined the 20th century, driven by the idea of the auteur, the great creative force giving meaning to the work of hundreds of crew and thousands of industry workers. But as the 21st century began, ticket sales flatlined, ancillary profits from Dvd sales were drying up, and even major movie studios began to question whether they wanted to fully fund their own movies. The great auteur director figures of the 60s and 70s were transformed into enigmatic financiers like Gigi Pritzker, Megan Ellison, David Ellison, James Packer, and Mark Cuban.
