Gina Carano's Cara Dune won't return for future seasons of the Pedro Pascal -led series The Mandalorian – or for any other Star Wars project, for that matter.
On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Carano, a former mixed martial artist who has become a recognizable face in the action and sci-fi genres over the years, was fired from The Mandalorian.
As reported by Deadline, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm confirmed on Wednesday evening that Carano wasn't just dropped from the first-ever live-action Star Wars series — she's also no longer going to be considered for or offered employment with Lucasfilm in the future. The decision came after Carano continued to share on social media statements that Lucasfilm deemed, quote, "abhorrent ."
Carano's Cara appeared throughout many episodes of The Mandalorian's first and second seasons, aiding Pascal's Din Djarin on his quest to reunite Grogu - AKA Baby Yoda - with other Jedi. Originally, audiences were impressed by Carano's introduction into the Star Wars universe, with many enjoying the strong presence she brought to the series as a former-Rebel-shock-trooper-turned-bounty-hunter. But the star's penchant for expressing her political opinions online — no matter how divisive or offensive those opinions might be — caused many fans to urge Lucasfilm to fire her. As Deadline details, Carano's most recent controversial post on Instagram suggested that being a Republican in the U.S. in 2021 is similar to being Jewish in Nazi Germany. This sparked renewed outrage online, and "(Hashtag)FireGinaCarano" started trending on Twitter as folks tagged both Disney and Lucasfilm in thousands of tweets in an effort to remove her from The Mandalorian.
At that point, Lucasfilm had already taken note of Carano's damaging social media presence, but her post implying that Republicans are being harmed in the same way Jewish people were harmed in Nazi-era Germany was the breaking point. Wednesday evening, the studio released a statement announcing her firing. It reads,
"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Alongside her exit from the Star Wars series, Variety reports that Carano was also dropped by her talent agency, UTA , due to the offensive nature of the comments she made online.
For several months now, fans have been banding together to call for Carano's firing.
Carano previously caused controversy in November 2020 when she mocked social media users who list their pronouns — such as "she/her/hers" or "they/them/theirs" — in their bios, putting "beep/bop/boop" in her own profile. As noted by Variety, Carano also seemingly made a mockery of safety regulations put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, sharing a photo of someone wearing several cloth masks over their nose and mouth and captioning it,
"Meanwhile in California..."
Carano's most recent posts have since been deleted from Instagram, but screenshots are still circulating across various social media platforms.
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lucasfilm executives had been planning for about "two months" to fire Carano, and that "today was the final straw." The outlet also revealed that Lucasfilm intended to announce a Cara Dune spin-off series during the Disney Investor's Day presentation in December 2020, but those plans were abandoned after Carano took to Twitter in early November to level accusations about voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. She wrote in part,
“Flush out the fake votes. Make Voter Fraud end in 2020."
There was some support for Carano following the news of her firing, as a number of her supporters started tweeting "(hashtag)CancelDisneyPlus" . With Disney's impressive slate of spin-off shows like Ahsoka Tano , The Acolyte , Rangers of the New Republic, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor , Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Lando – as well as all the Marvel Studios projects in development — "cancelling" the streaming service will certainly miss out on a lot of new content. A fan started a Change.org petition calling for Lucasfilm to keep Carano in The Mandalorian. The organizer wrote in part,
"This is a counter petition to support Gina Carano for keeping her role in The Mandalorian. Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it be right or wrong."
Many who signed the petition have argued that Carano's firing is the result of "cancel culture." The Change.org petition is rapidly approaching its goal of 5000 signatures, but time will only tell if that will translate into Disney+ cancellations. Gina Joy Carano (born April 16, 1982) is an American actress, television personality, fitness model, and former mixed martial artist. Carano began her training with straight Muay Thai to competitive MMA where she had tenures in organizations such as Strikeforce and EliteXC and has been featured in ESPN The Magazine as well as Maxim. Number Six (Battlestar Galactica)
Number Six is a family of fictional characters from the reimagined science fiction television series, Battlestar Galactica. She is portrayed by Canadian actress and model Tricia Helfer. Of the twelve known Cylon models, she is the sixth of the "Significant Seven". Like the others of the "Significant Seven", there are several versions of her, including Caprica-Six, Shelly Godfrey, Gina Inviere, Natalie Faust, Lida and Sonja. She is the only model that does not use one particular human alias for all copies.
The character was named after Number Six, Patrick McGoohan's character from the show The Prisoner.
Appearance and personality traits
Six is a seductive, statuesque Cylon infiltrator. She was the first example shown of a new generation of Cylons capable of adapting to human form and emotions. Little else is known of her earlier years. She can, like other Cylons, retain memories which can be downloaded into another body if the original body is killed. Like her counterparts, her body was designed to mimic the human body at the cellular level, making her almost undetectable to testing procedures, and there are many copies of her in existence. Sixes and Eights are the Humanoid Cylon models shown most frequently. Sixes tend to have individualistic traits, and are considerably susceptible to the full array of human emotions. Carrera (slot car brand)
Carrera is a slot car brand introduced in the early 1960s by Josef Neuhierl GmbH & Co. KG based in the Franconian town of Fürth, Germany. The name Carrera was inspired by the Porsche Carrera models which took their name from the Carrera Panamericana road race.
Carrera dominated the German markets in the 1960s and 1970s, due to using an additional third wire, and effective marketing, also at the nearby Nuremberg International Toy Fair.
In 1970, Carrera offered 1:24, 1:32 and 1:60 scales for slot cars, and the slot-free "Servo" systems which allowed cars to switch lanes, guided by the guard rails on the outside. Due to the many systems offered, and fewer customers (Generation X), Neuhierl had to sell his company in 1985, and took his own life. The new owners sold rather cheap products.

Carrera is all about innovation and quality which marked the creation of a smaller scale 1:43. The traditional 1:32 scale, Carrera Evolution, was integrated with new Digital 132 technology. The function of Digital 132 technology is to allow a maximum of six vehicles to overtake each other at high speeds on both analogue and digital racetracks.

Carano previously caused controversy in November 2020 when she mocked social media users who list their pronouns — such as "she/her/hers" or "they/them/theirs" — in their bios, putting "beep/bop/boop" in her own profile. A fan started a Change.org petition calling for Lucasfilm to keep Carano in The Mandalorian. The organizer wrote in part,
"This is a counter petition to support Gina Carano for keeping her role in The Mandalorian. Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it be right or wrong."
Many who signed the petition have argued that Carano's firing is the result of "cancel culture." The Change.org petition is rapidly approaching its goal of 5000 signatures, but time will only tell if that will translate into Disney+ cancellations. Gina Carano's Cara Dune won't return for future seasons of the Pedro Pascal -led series The Mandalorian – or for any other Star Wars project, for that matter.
On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, Carano, a former mixed martial artist who has become a recognizable face in the action and sci-fi genres over the years, was fired from The Mandalorian.
As reported by Deadline, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm confirmed on Wednesday evening that Carano wasn't just dropped from the first-ever live-action Star Wars series — she's also no longer going to be considered for or offered employment with Lucasfilm in the future. The decision came after Carano continued to share on social media statements that Lucasfilm deemed, quote, "abhorrent ."
Carano's Cara appeared throughout many episodes of The Mandalorian's first and second seasons, aiding Pascal's Din Djarin on his quest to reunite Grogu - AKA Baby Yoda - with other Jedi. Originally, audiences were impressed by Carano's introduction into the Star Wars universe, with many enjoying the strong presence she brought to the series as a former-Rebel-shock-trooper-turned-bounty-hunter. But the star's penchant for expressing her political opinions online — no matter how divisive or offensive those opinions might be — caused many fans to urge Lucasfilm to fire her. As Deadline details, Carano's most recent controversial post on Instagram suggested that being a Republican in the U.S. in 2021 is similar to being Jewish in Nazi Germany. This sparked renewed outrage online, and "(Hashtag)FireGinaCarano" started trending on Twitter as folks tagged both Disney and Lucasfilm in thousands of tweets in an effort to remove her from The Mandalorian.
At that point, Lucasfilm had already taken note of Carano's damaging social media presence, but her post implying that Republicans are being harmed in the same way Jewish people were harmed in Nazi-era Germany was the breaking point. Wednesday evening, the studio released a statement announcing her firing. It reads,
"Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable."
Alongside her exit from the Star Wars series, Variety reports that Carano was also dropped by her talent agency, UTA , due to the offensive nature of the comments she made online.
For several months now, fans have been banding together to call for Carano's firing.
Carano previously caused controversy in November 2020 when she mocked social media users who list their pronouns — such as "she/her/hers" or "they/them/theirs" — in their bios, putting "beep/bop/boop" in her own profile. As noted by Variety, Carano also seemingly made a mockery of safety regulations put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic, sharing a photo of someone wearing several cloth masks over their nose and mouth and captioning it,
"Meanwhile in California..."
Carano's most recent posts have since been deleted from Instagram, but screenshots are still circulating across various social media platforms.
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lucasfilm executives had been planning for about "two months" to fire Carano, and that "today was the final straw." The outlet also revealed that Lucasfilm intended to announce a Cara Dune spin-off series during the Disney Investor's Day presentation in December 2020, but those plans were abandoned after Carano took to Twitter in early November to level accusations about voter fraud in the 2020 U.S. presidential election. She wrote in part,
“Flush out the fake votes. Make Voter Fraud end in 2020."
There was some support for Carano following the news of her firing, as a number of her supporters started tweeting "(hashtag)CancelDisneyPlus" . With Disney's impressive slate of spin-off shows like Ahsoka Tano , The Acolyte , Rangers of the New Republic, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor , Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Lando – as well as all the Marvel Studios projects in development — "cancelling" the streaming service will certainly miss out on a lot of new content. A fan started a Change.org petition calling for Lucasfilm to keep Carano in The Mandalorian. The organizer wrote in part,
"This is a counter petition to support Gina Carano for keeping her role in The Mandalorian. Everyone is entitled to an opinion whether it be right or wrong."
Many who signed the petition have argued that Carano's firing is the result of "cancel culture." The Change.org petition is rapidly approaching its goal of 5000 signatures, but time will only tell if that will translate into Disney+ cancellations. Gina Joy Carano (born April 16, 1982) is an American actress, television personality, fitness model, and former mixed martial artist. Carano began her training with straight Muay Thai to competitive MMA where she had tenures in organizations such as Strikeforce and EliteXC and has been featured in ESPN The Magazine as well as Maxim. Her popularity with fans and audiences has helped her garner the title of being the "Face of Women's MMA"[1] and was ranked on the "Top Ten Influential Women of 2008" list on Yahoo![2]
She was formerly the third best 145 lb (66 kg) fighter in the world, according to the Unified Women's MMA Rankings.[3][4] On August 2009, Carano would also headline Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg with Cristiane Santos, which marked the first time two women headlined a major MMA event.[5] As a competitive fighter, her standings consists of a 12--1--1 Muay Thai record and a 7--1 WMMA record.[6]
Outside of MMA, Carano also appeared as "Crush" on the revamped 2008 television series American Gladiators. Following her departure from MMA, Carano began a career in acting. Her debut breakout performance was in Steven Soderbergh's 2011 action-thriller film Haywire, which earned her a nomination for Best Actress in an Action Movie at the 18th Critics' Choice Awards. Carano would then star in the 2013 blockbuster film Fast & Furious 6 and in John Stockwell's In the Blood.
At the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con International, Avengelyne co-creator Rob Liefeld announced production for a big-screen adaptation of the comic book was in development, in which Carano would star as the lead titular character
