Matador Records is an independent record label, with a roster of indie rock artists and bands.
Matador was created in 1989 by Chris Lombardi in his New York City apartment. Lombardi brought the Austrian duo H.P. Zinker into Wharton Tiers’ Fun City studio to record Matadors first release, "...and there was light". Lombardi continued to add artists to the labels roster, such as the Dustdevils, Railroad Jerk and Superchunk before being joined by former Homestead Records manager Gerard Cosloy in 1990. The two of them have run it together since. Matador experienced its first taste of crazed media attention & big sales with the North American release of Teenage Fanclub’s debut record, A Catholic Education in 1990. In 1992 Matador released Pavement's debut studio album Slanted and Enchanted. In 1993, not only did Matador release Liz Phair's critically and commercially successful debut album, Exile in Guyville, but the label also began a partnership with Atlantic Records which lasted for several years. In 1996, Capitol Records purchased a 49 percent stake in Matador, which Lombardi and Cosloy bought back in 1999. Beggars Group purchased 50% of Matador in 2002 and took over the label's worldwide marketing.
Thurston Joseph Moore (born July 25, 1958) is an American musician best known as a singer, songwriter and guitarist of Sonic Youth. He has also participated in many solo and group collaborations outside Sonic Youth, as well as running the Ecstatic Peace! record label. Moore was ranked 34th in Rolling Stone's 2004 edition of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." In May 2012, Spin published a staff-selected top 100 ranking Moore and his Sonic Youth bandmate Lee Ranaldo together on number 1.
In 2012, Moore started a new band Chelsea Light Moving, with their first track, "Burroughs", released as a free download. Chelsea Light Moving's eponymous debut was released on March 5, 2013.
Moore was born 25 July 1958 at Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables, Florida to George E. Moore and Eleanor Nann Moore, and moved with his family (including brother Frederick Eugene Moore—born 1953—and sister Susan Dorothy Moore—born 1956) in 1967 to Bethel, Connecticut. He attended St. Joseph's School in Danbury Ct followed by St. Mary's School in Bethel CT and attended from 1973–76 Bethel High School. He enrolled at Western Connecticut State University in fall of 1976 but left after one quarter and moved to East 13th Street between Aves A and B in New York City to join the burgeoning post-punk/no wave music scenes. It was here the he was able to watch shows by the likes of Patti Smith and spoken-word performances by William S. Burroughs. In 1980 he moved in with Kim Gordon to an apartment at 84 Eldridge St. below artist Dan Graham, eventually befriending him, sometimes using records from Graham's collection for mix tapes.
A torero (Spanish: [toˈɾeɾo]) or toureiro (Portuguese: [toˈɾɐjɾu]) (both from Latin taurarius, bullfighter), is a bullfighter and the main performer in the sport of bullfighting as practised in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Peru, France and other countries influenced by Spanish culture. In Spanish, the word torero describes any of the performers who participate in the bullfight. The main performer, who is the leader of an entourage and the one who kills the bull, is addressed as maestro (master), and his formal title is matador de toros (killer of bulls). The term torero encompasses all who fight the bull in the ring (picadores and rejoneadores). The other bullfighters in the entourage are called subalternos and their suits are embroidered in silver as opposed to the matador's more-theatrical gold.
In English, the torero is sometimes called the toreador. The term does not exist in Spanish; it was invented by Georges Bizet for his opera Carmen. He needed the syllables of the word to match the timing of the song.

"The Best Day" is a song written by Dean Dillon and Carson Chamberlain, and performed by American country music singer George Strait. It was released in January 2000 as the first single from his album Latest Greatest Straitest Hits. The song reached the top of the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart.
"The Best Day" is told through the eyes of a father who recalls his son describing key events of his life as being "the best day of [his] life," since they were particularly memorable and had pleasant memories attached to them. As the song progresses, the son grows from childhood into adolescence and eventually adulthood.
The first verse recalls a father-son campout, and the young boy looking forward to a weekend of fishing, conversation and bonding, and other camping-related activities with his father.
The second verse shows a boy from the first verse who now becomes a teenager and newly licensed with his father and he gets his first car, a classic Chevrolet Corvette which he and his father plan to restore.
