Adil Auassar

Adil Auassar (born 6 October 1986 in Dordrecht) is a Dutch-Moroccan footballer who currently plays for Excelsior in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Early life

Auassar was born in Dordrecht, South Holland, the Netherlands. He grew up in Zwijndrecht, South Holland, and got two older brothers and one younger sister.

Club career

Youth career

Auassar started his youth career at local Zwijndrecht club Groote Lindt. At the age of 14, Auassar switched to Sparta Rotterdam's amateur side. He played for Sparta Rotterdam for three seasons, after which FC Dordrecht offered the young player a professional contract.

FC Dordrecht (2005–2007)

Auassar made his professional debut after the winter break of the season 2005–06. On 13 January 2006, he replaced Bart van Muyen in the 90th minute of the Eerste Divisie away match against FC Volendam (1–1). Auassar quickly became a first team regular and played a total of 11 matches in his first season. Auassar scored his first professional goal in his second season. On 1 September 2006, Auassar scored one goal in the away win against Fortuna Sittard (0–4). Auassar played a total of 30 matches in his second season, scoring three goals. He played an important role in FC Dordrecht's promotion playoffs qualification, but the club was knocked out by RKC Waalwijk after a third decider match. Auassar's good performance didn't pass by unnoticed. Eerste Divisie champions VVV-Venlo picked up the midfielder in the beginning of the season 2007–08 to play on the highest level.

Roda JC Kerkrade

Sportvereniging Roda Juliana Combinatie Kerkrade (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈspɔrtfəˌreːnəɣɪŋ ˈroːdaː ˌjyliˈjaːnaː ˌkɔmbiˈnaː(t)si ˈkɛr(ə)kˌraːdə]; Kerkrade dialect: Sjport Verainiejoeng Roda Juliana Combinaatsiejoeën Kirchroa), also known as Roda JC Kerkrade ([ˈroːdaː jeːˈseː ˈkɛr(ə)kˌraːdə]) is a Dutch professional association football club located in Kerkrade, Netherlands. Roda JC Kerkrade plays in the Eredivisie. The club was founded after a merger between Rapid JC and Roda Sport in 1962. They were placed in the Eerste Divisie, and after a relegation they were promoted back to the top division in 1973, where they would stay for 41 years until relegating in 2014. In the 2009 season the added Kerkrade to the name to create brand awareness and get financial support.

Roda JC is known as a "coal-miner's club". Fans of arch rival MVV, from the provincial capital of Maastricht, pronounce those words condescendingly. In Kerkrade and surroundings however, they are pronounced with pride and respect. The last Dutch coal-mines were closed in the 1960s, but the southeastern part of the Netherlands' most southern province, Limburg, is still referred to as the Mijnstreek ('mine district') today. The coal-mines are still industrious in folk songs in the regional dialect and in the stories of old miners, reminiscing of an era that will never return. Southern Limburg will always be their home. Their team, in most cases, is Roda JC.

The Hague

The Hague (/ðə ˈheɪɡ/; Dutch: Den Haag pronounced [dɛnˈɦaːx] or 's-Gravenhage pronounced [ˈsxraːvə(n)ˌɦaːɣə]) is the seat of government in the Netherlands, and the capital city of the province of South Holland.
