Perfect podcast app for me I went through many Android podcast apps before I found BeyondPod. What I needed was an app that downloaded reliably every night and let me customize the order podcasts played without having to adjust the order everyday or while listening. The playlist feature is perfect. I can prioritize a few podcasts that will always play first, no matter how old the lower priority podcasts are. Now I can simply start playing when I leave for work and know the podcasts I want that day will be played first without fail.

Is the app up to date? All in all it's a good app, but has a downside to it: there is no auto synchronization. This can cause inconvenience for those of us who have more than one device which is not uncommon nowadays. Also, I would love to see the 'skip intro' option. I have the paid version of the app and there is no 'skip intro', why? And it would be very useful to search in iTunes from the app. I love this app and I want to stay with it, but if there is no further development people will switch over to alternatives.

PLEASE LISTRN TO YOUR CUSTOME4S As a loyal customer, I came to download this app. I have had it in every phone I ever bought with no probs. Now it has issues. Please hire, fire or do whatever is necessary to retain customers because as your usability, credibility & like-ability goes, then so will we. Gave you five stars for "loved it" past tense. I'll give until my patience runs out before I permanently switch.

I wish I could get the full experience with this, but because of limitations with my phone, I can't listen while doing anything else. The app is solid and reliable. The background sync between devices seems to leave something to be desired though. I always have to clean up my tablet whenever I need to switch over because it won't delete on the secondary device. I also have a hard time adding feeds because everything is automatically marked as unread, so I have a hard time when re-installing the app and re-adding all of my feeds.

Please fix - Episodes stopping mid-play Updated review: Still got the same issues. I'm over it. I'll be finding a different podcast app. Pretty good app aside from the fact that episodes stop suddenly mid-play, sometimes multiple times an episode. This means reloading and fast-forwarding every time. Beyondpod is my preferred podcast app but if this doesn't change I'll have to explore other options

Don't know what happened Loved this app! Decided I used it enough that I should buy it for the added features, now when someone calls it no longer pauses the podcast. It continues playing and I have to go into it to pause the podcast and then after the call go back in to restart. Didn't have this problem with the free version. Call came in, it praised, and when the call ended it resumed playing.... how this gets fixed.

Best around but UI is not up to standard Don't get me wrong. It's a great podcatch app but after a couple of months serious use, I need to drop my rating from 4 to 3 stars. The interface is just too busy with too much happening on a small screen. Invoking the scroll bar to look through episodes is fairly arbitrary from touches around the screen. I'm not fond of the swipe-in screens from the sides either - there must be a better way.
Once again the best podcast app for android Like many people I hated the new ui at first. But the developers have done a great job improving the usability while retaining the new modern look. Features such as the ability to sync and backup feeds, and automatically generated playlists have now become indispensable.
Cannot apply licence to new phone Firstly, I just want to say that I really like this app after trying several others. I bought the pro version but cannot move the licence to my new phone...I have sent several emails to their support email but have had no reply. Great app but not worth paying twice for. Currently trying podcast republic as an alternative
Used To Be Excellent The new UI version is hard to learn. Some of the features I regularly use were hard to find (like how to edit smart play). Why so many taps in layered and confusing menus? I have used BeyondPod for about 2 years now. Although it has been stable, it continues to evolve with timely updates. I especially like the deep level of settings that make BeyondPod one of my most used and favorite apps.
Look no further It's a shame that this app is so far down on the list of podcast apps, it is truly the greatest one that you can get for free. No ads, no crap. Don't listen to other bad reviews, they simply don't like the "new version" for some reason. If you already know which podcasts you want to listen to them this is the app to get. The discover feature does not lead to very good content but the rest of the app is beautiful and fantastic and I use it every day. The interface looks nice and there are so many features.
Love / hate relationship I bought this app years ago and now I feel I'm married to it. I do not want to shell out more money for another one. But, slowly this app is getting better, I could recommend this app on some days... With that being said, my current issue in my on going relationship with beyond pod is an account manager. I want to be able to save my likes and subscriptions for when I decide to buy a new phone or do a reinstall. Thanks for reading
Almost great This app is a touch clunky to use when setting up the scheduler. You have to know wherever to swipe right, left, up or down to get the screen you want. It would be nice if there was just a single menu. The Bluetooth doesn't work very well in my car, it keeps cutting out. Other phones and apps don't have that problem with that stereo. The scheduler works great and I always have the newest podcasts, which is why I still use this app. I also really like the playback speed adjustment option.
Loved it....once I've been using this app for at least 3 years. Unfortunately it now crashes my car's computer when trying to play via bluetooth. I've downloaded another app that works seamlessly. Saving to an SD card is a big deal for me too. Uninstalling for now and hopefully someday, you'll be back to the good app you once were.
Great! Highly customizable. I am very picky about features in the apps that I use, and this does everything that I want. It also has a huge level of customizability. Some of my favorite options: Long press to skip, update schedule, play video in external player, delete episode directly from playlist, simple search with pictures... The list goes on. Great job! EDIT: After years of use, still going strong. Bought the unlock key for even more features and love it!
Good but... Have been using this app since 2012 and it does have all the features I need such as schedule based auto download, limit to wifi, backup/sync, etc. But the design is not very intuative. Even now in 2016 I still find myself trying to figure out how to change my download schedule...
Changed my opinion for the better. First, took a little while to get used to the interface, but now like it. Very flexible settings. Does not cause my older phone to slow down, remains snappy. Never crashed, once. Player handles 165 or podcasts with aplomb, never sluggish. Good search too. Ompl import worked well, but just a bit confusing to use. I love the individual podcast editing. You can even change the artwork easily. Would be nice to have all download shown in one place. Small complaint. Great player
Uses data Beyond Pod free will let you download one podcast at a time. I listen to my podcasts at an area without wifi, but with cellular data. Before I listen I download the podcasts at home. For several months this seemed to work. I don't know if the app changed or I have. Over a month I've used 600 MB of data through the app. I'm going to try a different app.
Some functions don't work I paid, since it's a decent podcast app, but the multi-device episode sync has never, ever worked. I listen to a few episodes on my phone while out and about, then later that evening none of them have synced to my tablet as played and I have to manually skip to the end for them.
WOW STILL NO FIX (checked 3-1-16, since 1-1-16) FOR: Update broke pause on incoming call! I'll be checking back AND LOWERING my stars rating until this is FIXED. Older version used to pause on incoming calls and resume when call is completed now it just plays until you hit pause
My new favorite podcast app! I switched from Podcast Republic due to ads and outdated design. This app has similar UI making it easy to navigate. It also has the most important feature a podcast app in my opinion should have - ability to browse all downloaded episodes in one window. Great app, keep up the good job!
Will not play local files on kit Kat. Will only stream. Been working great on lollipop, but had to switch to a kitkat phone, and it will not play episodes that are already downloaded locally. It still tries tiki stream them, then gives an error. Even after I've disabled streaming completely on settings, it still tries to stream.
Works great, keeps getting better with every release. That said, backup to local storage is not backup. Backup should automatically prompt sharing to something else. If I have to remember to copy it somewhere, I'm probably going to forget, like I did when I wiped my phone last night. I can't remember half the titles of my podcasts. I guess that takes care of the list trimming I was planning on doing soon, but not in a good way.
SD card no longer works Galaxy S5 SD card no longer worked for storage. A dialog blames it on Android, but another podcast player worked. Discovered I needed to delete the external folder, move to internal, then move back to external and let BP recreate the external folder for this to work. Happy now, but dialogs, help, and FAQ could be better.
So annoying Very confusing and poorly laid out. Can be easily set to download podcasts and then immediately delete them. I often wake up with a device full of half downloaded podcasts. When they come up in the queue they cannot be played or streamed. This is just rubbish. Actively looking for an alternative. Does not support 2x on Chromecast
I use this app everyday. Discovery is simple. Smart play lists are automatically updated and configurable. Edit: the new UI has some serious UX issues. Hint: don't use the Android back button - it invariably closes the app. And when viewing episodes in a feed the scroll bar gets clicked constantly.
Obviously powerful, but cluttered This has been my go to podcast ap for a while, but it's a pain to use and navigate sometimes. I'm a power user, so at first I loved the extreme depth of options. However the inclusion of "global" options AND individual podcast options is dizzying. Maybe I simply need to find something more simple for my basic needs.
Great but... I have used this app for a couple years, and had the full version for almost a year. Great app for listening & organizing, but, It recently developed the cutting out problem mid episode that others describe. It will Just stop mid podcast and need to be restarted. I'm on a Sony z3. It also drops episodes from the playlist overnight, and you need to re-add them. Please fix the app!!!
Long time user Weird after update. Thus app changed drastically after the big update several months ago. Not very intuitive anymore. I'm sure if u delicate yourself to it u can figure out this app but I'm sure there are easier pod cast players out there. Wish I had saved the 7 bucks.
Could you please fix the resume issue. I use this app daily and have gotten very frustrated with it not resuming at the correct place. Only if I open the player (the bottom drawer), wait a few seconds, and press play it will resuume correctly 99% of the time. I have been patient, but i will have to change my podcast app soon, if not ficed soon.
It wasn't broken so they fixed it This has been my podcast app of choice for 3 years but after the recent update it has turned into this sleek monstrosity with a completely different user interface. I hope they reconsider and revert to the old look and create a separate app for those people who like the new look.
Issues with new update I've been using BeyondPod Pro for a while now and the latest update has some problems. On my Moto X, I can no longer use the feature to wave my hand over the screen to view notifications when I'm listening to podcasts. It also drains my battery incredibly quickly while listening now, which never happened before.
Best Podcast App Available I'm a co-host for the Godless Rebelution podcast, and I listen to dozens of other podcasts every day. I love being able to sync my play lists between my phone and my tablet. This is, by far, the best podcast app I've ever used.
Nice and polished looking that's for sure. Thought about ranking lower though because it's missing some big things. Now it can do audio boost (which shouldn't be buried in advanced settings) BUT not while streaming. It is also lacking the ability to do "silence skip". Even if it did I'm guessing they would make it only with downloaded podcasts. A few stand out podcast players actually allow those things I listed WHILE streaming.
Stable and easy Beautiful on a device with 32gb or more internal memory [S5+]. Unfortunately, Android Kitkat+ OS rendered this app klunky for lesser devices forcing downloads to internal memory. I use about 5gb. Once I upgraded my phone to S6, my bitterness ended. This APP picks up everything I need. Thank you!
Last update is terrible. I suspect the last update was designed by Chinese hackers. So many bugs I can't list them all. Wish I could revert. How could you leap this far backward? Was 5 stars across the board before... 12/13/15: I tried. Cannot stand this new version. Tragic case of meddling with something that wasn't broken. Looking for new podcast app.
Could do with some attention. UI is confusing, streaming is poor as it tends to stop and once stopped you have to mess about to make it start again, and when using Chromecasts to stream, if it can't stream one (e.g. it's a local one) it stops rather than skipping ahead to one it can play. Basically it needs regular attention, you can't just leave it to play as it can't cope with obvious situations very well at all.
What happened? I used to be able to stream on 3g. I used to be able to stream on my 3g with little buffering, suddenly it updated and It buffers every 3 seconds it seems, did you change the way it buffers? Or perhaps hiked up the sound quality of streams? Why is there no option to tinker with sound quality? Why has the buffering become so bad, let the stream buffer a bit further then a second before playing please.
Restarts Podcasts after pause When I pause for more than a couple of minutes, podcasts start at the beginning instead of resuming from where I left off. This only became an issue on the last two versions. Iove the UI and other functionality and this would be five stars if they could fix this issue and integrate the software with Sonos so I can play podcasts on on my speakers.
2015-10-04 Update: I still love this app and intend to continue using it. However, with the most recent update, the app has stopped responding to Bluetooth controls for fast forward/rewind/pause. I have verified that the problem occurs with 3 separate head sets. Bluetooth controls still work for other apps installed on my Android phone, so I am quite sure there is a bug in the current BeyondPod release. I look forward to a fix in the near future. Thanks for a great app! __________________________________________________________ This is a very good podcast manager app. I have been using BeyondPod for over a year. It is extensively customizable. It never fails to update my podcast subscriptions nightly over my home WiFi. It connects reliably to my bluetooth headset and even allows buttons on the headset to change volume, fast forward, etc. I rely on this app daily. The modest fee for the Pro version was a very good deal indeed. Thank you to the BeyondPod Team.
