IYSSE at Wayne State University

We are the Wayne State Chapter of the International Youth and Students for Social Equality (Facebook page)

We meet every Monday evening in the General Lectures building. The IYSSE at Wayne State University is also the youth wing of the Detroit Workers Action Committee (DWAC), which holds a program to organize neighborhoods, schools, factories and workplaces against the bankruptcy of Detroit and the continual social counterrevolution being waged against students and workers.

IYSSE meetings consist of one part current political discussion, one part theoretical discussion, and one part activities discussion. Our meetings are themed, so the theoretical discussion connects to current events. We welcome suggestions for readings, topics, and discussions.

The IYSSE holds information tables in the Student Center for weekly public political discourse. These tables are high traffic and keep political issues at the forefront of the campus thought. We invite all interested parties to stop by and participate in these sessions, whether it be actively handing out articles or meeting invitations, or discussing political and theoretical conceptions.

We host public meetings regularly, inviting speakers to bring a Marxist perspective to campus.
