The first thought that crossed Supriya Pathak's mind when she read the script of 'UnIndian' was that it's a sweet story with an interesting concept. The seasoned actress, who plays Tannishtha Chatterjee's mother in the Anupam Sharma directorial, says, "It is a simple story without any complications, a slice-of-life film, and I wanted to be a part of it. I met the director for the first time on the set. It didn't feel like it was my first day with them."
Asked about her take on the film's concept of single mothers finding love again, she says, "It takes time for society to accept any change. While it was unthinkable earlier, now no one frowns upon the idea of a single parent getting a second chance in life."
With Brett Lee playing the hero in the film, were there any cricket moments on the set? "Brett didn't play cricket on screen or off it. But he and the young girl who plays Tannishtha's daughter would play handball and it was fun watching them," she says. The veteran actress is keen to explore all roles that are there of mothers. So, what kind of a mother is she in real life? "I think I am a cool mother. I'm more like a friend to my children. They talk to me about everything, including their love life," she laughs.
