Ron Rice (born Charles Ronald Rice: 1935 in New York City – 1964 in Acapulco, Mexico) was an American experimental filmmaker, whose freeform style influenced experimental filmmakers in New York and California during the early 1960s.
Rice twice collaborated with future Warhol star Taylor Mead, including Rice's first and best-known film, The Flower Thief (1960). Created in 1959 for less than $1,000, it used World War II aerial gunnery 16mm film cartridges donated to Rice by Hollywood producer Sam Katzman. In 1962, it was seen by a large New York audience as a selection of Amos Vogel's Cinema 16.
Rice commented on his inventive approach:
In 2005, after muffled dialogue was restored by the Anthology Film Archives, Ed Halter reviewed the film for the Village Voice:
The 28-minute Senseless print was silent, but it played at New York's Charles Theater with Béla Bartók music. This was not planned; it just happened to be one of the few LP records in the projection booth. Each showing was slightly different since the record was never synched with the start of the film at the same place. Cary Collins provided background on the production:
Rice is the seed of the grass species Oryza sativa (Asian rice) or Oryza glaberrima (African rice). As a cereal grain, it is the most widely consumed staple food for a large part of the world's human population, especially in Asia. It is the agricultural commodity with the third-highest worldwide production, after sugarcane and maize, according to 2012 FAOSTAT data.
Since a large portion of maize crops are grown for purposes other than human consumption, rice is the most important grain with regard to human nutrition and caloric intake, providing more than one-fifth of the calories consumed worldwide by humans.
Wild rice, from which the crop was developed, may have its native range in Australia. Chinese legends attribute the domestication of rice to Shennong, the legendary emperor of China and inventor of Chinese agriculture. Genetic evidence has shown that rice originates from a single domestication 8,200–13,500 years ago in the Pearl River valley region of China. Previously, archaeological evidence had suggested that rice was domesticated in the Yangtze River valley region in China.
San Diego /ˌsæn diːˈeɪɡoʊ/ (Spanish for "Saint Didacus") is a major city in California, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean in Southern California, approximately 120 miles (190 km) south of Los Angeles and immediately adjacent to the border with Mexico.
With an estimated population of 1,381,069 as of July 1, 2014, San Diego is the eighth-largest city in the United States and second-largest in California. San Diego is the birthplace of California and is known for its mild year-round climate, natural deep-water harbor, extensive beaches, long association with the U.S. Navy, and recent emergence as a healthcare and biotechnology development center.
Historically home to the Kumeyaay people, San Diego was the first site visited by Europeans on what is now the West Coast of the United States. Upon landing in San Diego Bay in 1542, Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo claimed the entire area for Spain, forming the basis for the settlement of Alta California 200 years later. The Presidio and Mission of San Diego, founded in 1769, formed the first European settlement in what is now California. In 1821, San Diego became part of newly independent Mexico, and in 1850, became part of the United States following the Mexican–American War and the admission of California to the union.
Hawaiian Tropic is an American brand of suntan lotion sold around the world, but more widely available in the United States.
The company was founded by Ron Rice in 1969. With a $500 loan from his father, he mixed the first batch in a metal trash can and bottled it from his home garage in Murray, Kentucky. After rapid success, he became the largest private manufacturer of sun care products in the United States until being acquired in May 2007 by Playtex Products, Inc. When combined with Playtex's other brand of sun care, Banana Boat, Playtex is the largest manufacturer of sun care products in the Western Hemisphere. Shortly after purchasing Hawaiian Tropic, Playtex Products was purchased by Energizer Holdings Inc. in a deal valued at $1.9 billion.
The company sponsored bikini competitions to seek women to serve as spokesmodels for their products. Many winners appeared later in advertising campaigns, swimwear, erotic magazines, and lingerie catalogs.
In late 2006, a company opened a theme restaurant called Hawaiian Tropic Zone in New York City near Times Square, advertised as the "Hottest Place on Earth" and using the Hawaiian Tropic Zone name under license. The restaurant featured waitresses in bikinis designed by Nicole Miller and a menu by chef David Burke. Later that year, four former employees sued the restaurant, alleging chronic groping by managers and a rape. Restaurateur Dennis Riese and nightclub owner Adam Hock have ownership interests in the restaurant. The restaurant closed in mid-2010.

Ron Rice talks about bridging the divide between environmental issues and communication.
Without a doubt, Ron Rice is the stuff that American dreams are made of. Not unlike our country's forefathers, Ron began his early days in a log cabin high in the mountains of North Carolina. A born entrepreneur, by age 5, he would stand at the foot of his family-owned mountain, at his own roadside stand, selling apples, grapes, nuts, honey, apple cider, and wreaths at Christmas to help make ends meet.

Wanting to pursue a career in education, Rice headed for the University of Tennessee where during summer breaks, he worked as a Florida lifeguard to help pay his tuition. Loving the warm climate and beach lifestyle, and with a Bachelor of Science Degree under his arm, he landed a job as a chemistry teacher and football coach at a Florida high school earning under $5,000 a year.

From That Moment On: Three Conversations about Dealey Plaza (2005) was the first full documentary I made in graduate school. It won the Best Documentary by a Student award at the Deep Ellum film festival, in Dallas, but I never did anything with it because of copyright issues with some of the archival material in it. I have decided to share my raw footage, and some public domain items on YouTube, in the hope that others will find it interesting and useful. Feel free to use it as you please. FTMO: 42 Ron Rice and the Conspiracy Museum [raw footage] Shot in 2003, at the Conspiracy Museum. At the time, Rice was the Assistant Manager of this museum, which later closed in 2006.

Full Title: Digital Divides of Internet Awareness, Adoption and Use due to Low Economic Wellbeing and Foreign Language Skill in the Caucasus Extending a digital divide framework, this study analyzes the influences on and relations among awareness, adoption, and (frequent) use of the Internet in three former Soviet republics -- Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. Nationally representative survey samples in each country in 2011 fit a combined model predicting that age, economic wellbeing, education, urbanness, and English language proficiency all generally influence each of the three Internet stages. Age, education, and urbanness are the primary determinants of awareness of the Internet. The greatest divide was between non-adoption and adoption. Language skill is the second most important ...
Ich bin der Reiter
du bist das Ross
ich steige auf
wir reiten los
du stohnst ich sag dir vor
ein Elefant im Nadelohr
Rein Raus
Ich bin der Reiter
du bist das Ross
ich hab den Schlussel
du hast das Schloss?
die Tur geht auf ich trete ein
das Leben kann so prachtvoll sein
Rein Raus
Tiefer tiefer
sag es sag es laut
tiefer tiefer
ich fuhl mich wohl in deiner Haut
und tausend Elefanten brechen aus
Der Ritt war kurz
es tut mir leid
ich steige ab hab keine Zeit
muss jetzt zu den anderen Pferden
wollen auch geritten werden
