OpenVPN Connect is the official full-featured Android VPN client for the OpenVPN Access Server, Private Tunnel VPN and OpenVPN Community, developed by OpenVPN Technologies, Inc.
Features:
* Supports Ice Cream Sandwich, Jelly Bean and higher. Does NOT require a rooted device.
* Easily import .ovpn profiles from SD card, OpenVPN Access Server, Private Tunnel or via a browser link.
* Improved power management - preferences setting allows VPN to pause in a low-power state whenever screen is blanked or network is unavailable.
* Android Keychain integration - OpenVPN profiles may reference a cert/key pair in the Android keychain.
* Supports hardware-backed keystores (such as on the Nexus 7)
* Support for multi-factor authentication using OpenVPN static and dynamic challenge/response protocols.
* Full IPv6 support (at both the tunnel and transport layer)
* Uses PolarSSL (not affected by Heartbleed issue)

Actually 3.5 Stars I would give it more stars, but the app keeps disconnecting from my VPN. It states that it will stay connected during the time the phone is on standby but it keeps disconnecting. Fix this issue for more stars. I know its not the VPN, I have no issues on my tablet, PC, or laptop using the VPN client from the service I pay for. This one has some issues.

Broken on Samsung S6 with stock marshmallow I decided to upgrade my S6 to Android 6.0.1 firmware stock version from Samsung. Now the ovpn disconnects when any traffic is flowing over the NIC card. I get TCP connection refused. I hae another android tabket and works fine plus ios devices

Not very reliable Drops connection often apparently for no reason leaving you "open". You have to constantly watch the icon to see the status. I have a Nexus phone with no bloatware so I cannot blame other apps and I have constantly full bar signal. This app still needs work.

Stable, secure An excellent way to connect to your network and transfer data and files securely. Requires only an easy to configure and free server in network and a few easy network configuration changes. I trust this software to securely access files for emergency management and disaster response. I highly recommend this VPN solution.

It just works :) Just a couple of minor things - after reboot when "reconnect on reboot" and "shortcut minimize" are set, sometimes app isn't minimized. And it will be great to see more connection options - cipher/auth/compression. Hope soon we will see the logs too :) Nevertheless, five stars!

A bit of sharp learning curve to setup But well with the effort. VPN is critical to secure oneself while on unsecure networks and to connect to remote networks. Unfortunately, bridged VPN via TAP is unavailable without gassing gaining root access.

Works better than the built in vpn on my old android Super even if connection lost and later reestablished. Only thing is the notification still shows as connected when it's not and occasionally I have disconnect and reconnect.
It worked until it didn't. I had issues with the log on the app's side saying that there was a transport error and a socket protect error. Suspecting everything else before the app was my biggest mistake. I had checked the vpn server's logs and tried changing vpn ports until i tried using another app. The issue went away and so did this app. When a network app fails, the problems area multiplied by a lot since there's no way to pinpoint it.i wish this app didn't work from the start so that i didn't give it so much faith.
Functions but crap interface As a long term developer I see this as extermely "bare bones". It doesn't let you have multiple ovpn files, does not remember the path you last imported from, can't be setup to connect automatically ... which are basic necessities. ** MAJOR FLAW doesn't differential between LAN and WAN so local network traffic goes throught the VPN (and usually can't). Must disable to use a local net file. I'd be embarrassed to put my name on it.
Awesome program This the best program that i have found that really works well and is easy to use, fast setup. Been using it awhile now and no more reports from isp that im violation of anything! If i could give it more star's i would. Love this thing. You really got to get this and give it a shot.
OpenVPN Connect stops working after upgraded to 1.1.17. It worked fine with 1.1.16. The log says "Client exception in transport_recv_excode: PolarSSL :SSL read error: SSL - Processing of the ServerKeyExchange handshake message failed." Exact same server and same config file, works with the previous version 1.1.16.
Disconnected Dear OpenVPN & co, lately when im using this apps, its start disconnected before i can use it. Maybe after the latest update. Please fix the error reported because this apps so much usefull to me.
nice... it's like I am home, no matter where I am! sometimes it goes stupid if I lose signal and get it back too many times in a short period of time.
Features removed I paid for this app because it was the only one that allowed TAP on my Android. Now all of a sudden the TAP support has been removed. Very upsetting. I hope this can be restored so I can give this app the five stars it deserves.
Doesn't connect since yesterday! This is really the best vpn app I've ever used. It deserves even 6 stars! But I don't know what happened to it now! Please fix it. No server works.
Disconnects frequently Very very unreliable. It will disconnect without any warning and it does so frequently.
Connects automatically! The only vpn I have found that connects automatically when wifi connects. Using it with a private tunnel account (its much better than the private tunnel app) and it is faultless (so far). My upload speed now exceeds download speed! Still works on marshmallow
A Blessing When you live in a country like Iran which government tries with all its power to stop us from reaching the freeweb its a blessing to have free solutions like this, ppl need information flow
Everything is beautiful A protected internet connection is only a cursory amount of reading and a button press away. OpenVPN is required software on all my devices.
Very Stable!!!! I think this app is the most stable if its kind. I tested it thoroughly... overnight and for days at a time. It never failed or lost connection to my knowledge. Great work on the developer's part.
Once you use it, you love it for ever Exactly like this. There are few months now and I love it. I have 2 dedicated Asus routers which have dedicated module for opinion. Not needed to be an IT, simple as 1234
Painless and Easy VPN I work in an environment where I need to consume large amounts of data, often from a public hotspot. Conscious that public hotspots are vulnerable to data breach's, I decided to buy a router that supports VPNs. Setup was painless and the VPN was up and running in 10 minutes. Great bit of software with plenty of customisation!
Super fast always connect no fail It take few second to connect, work perfect no slow internet. I tried many other VPN which they are time waste.
Great App Would highly suggest this to other PIA users. Simple and stable. Battery Drain is massive, almost halves the battery life on a Samsung S7
Just works Obviously having done the hard work of setting up the OpenVPN server, once you've got the ovpn file and use your password and it connects then you're all set.
Controlling my own connectivity I simply love this tool. Not trusted network? No problem. Log in to any unsafe one, push everything to my own connection at home and I'm a safe as if I were physically there.
Simple, secure effective After fighting with COTS VPN solutions to remotely connect to my home network from my android devices without any luck, it was refreshing how easy this was to setup.
very bad most ip of countries not working that works is getting broke all time
VPN doesn't work after update This app worked perfectly before I updated it. Now I get the "error parsing certificate" message.
Does not work on Android 6 Used to be great, but after upgrading to Android 6, the vpn session us closed after 20-30 seconds. Useless.
Does what its supposed to do very well Can't complain, just wish it had an always-on feature and a way to hide the icon from yeh status bar area.
Auto-reconnect option All is good, but it would be nice to have an option to auto-reconnect if no packet is received for some time (eg. 30 seconds). I often use OpenVPN to secure public WiFi connections which are sometimes unstable and, while it's not a big deal to reconnect manually, it would be nice to have an option to reconnect automatically if no packet is received for a while.
Simple and works! The ability to edit the client configuration file from within the app would be nice. It just works so the function is not really necessary. 5 stars for sure!
It just works. Outstanding. I heartily recommend pivpn. The developer responds almost instantly to questions. Don't hesitate for a minute. Get that RP up and running and load up!
Junk Same app in iOS works fine for me. On Android it's unreliable. Lots of disconnects
Problems Great software. I've had issues connecting and literally the only variable in the equation that worked as it should was the OpenVPN client and server software.
Best VPN option EVER Reliable and connects quickly. I've tried Cisco, windows pptp, Sophos l2tp, and various html VPN portals. This app/implementation takes the cake for speed, reliability and platform compatibility. Don't go anywhere else to look for a VPN solution.
My first VPN I can not notice any speed issues at all. OpenVPN was very easy to configure, took about 30 seconds to set up.I have OpenVPN running on my tablet.(1gb ram) works great!
Easy to use The ability to import configuration files makes it very easy to use. The only thing I miss is the ability to specify network rules to make it automatically connect when an untrusted network is used.
ANDROID 6 Broken Constantly disconnects whenever i switch to any app after connecting to vpn, sticks on reconnecting...FIX IT says tcp transport error
